2nd Ranger
GET SOME! Well... that's a Marine slogan, but the sentiment is there.
hotshot
That stuff looks great. Wonder if they can edit the convoy feature to choppers (sniping from a blackhawk), the dynamic buildings is undoubtly the best new feature for me though. The new island they showed on Observer3 video (i think) looks really nice too. Anyone know if thats something from a new terrain pack, or one of the islands USMC get? EDIT: There's a thread on the island on VBS Resource forums as well. Edited April 21, 2005 by hotshot
ogre_h
I liked the videos showing wheeled vehicles with multiple shooting positions. Maybe we can finally get technicals that work.
Gordo_Viper
Map is from Terrain Pack 3- Alpha stage so far. - Ref that thread from Seventh. And yeah looking forward to all the goodies.
CrowmanUK
It'll make a nice change to be able to shoot back from the back of a truck rather than being a nice speeding target.
warhawk
@Crowman As you well know being in some vehicles, depending on the driver (I'm not going to mention Gordo's name either ), can be harrowing enough. Not being able to shoot at OPFOR can be just adding insult to injury. Stout Hearts |RE|Warhawk

CrowmanUK
And its not like you stop to pick up passengers, unless you're pushing them off the bonnet
hotshot
I havn't seen this before, and to my knowlege it hasn't been posted on here so far either, but there are some screens and info on the new modules on CTCorp website: US Army National Guard (possibly the same as the USArmy1 Pack) Coalescent’s virtual training lab located in Orlando Florida designed and delivered a complete US Army “add-on” pack for the VBS1™ virtual training system. The simulation pack extends the VBS1™ simulation with Army Guard uniforms, tactics, weapons, terrains and current treat models. Our new US Army Add-on simulation pack which contains unique models, weapons and scripted tactics for the U.S. Army National Guard. NBC Module Developed under sponsorship by the US Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) and the Joint Chemical Defense school in Ft Leonard Wood, MO, Coalescent researched and documented NBCD training requirements, developed 3-D models for individual protective equipment (IPE), chemical agent detectors, and other specialized USMC fielded equipment. From this array of specialized models and behaviors, Coalescent developed detailed scenarios for highly specialized training and is working with the fleet users group for additional test and evaluation. Specific new interactive training capabilities include the test and proper operation of chemical agent detectors, the detection and marking of contaminated areas in the virtual terrain, and virtual performance of the proper steps for decontamination. This program is an excellent example demonstrating the inherent flexibility of the VBS1 platform for use in diverse free-play synthetic cognitive skills training. Source I dont know how much apply's to the USArmy1 and NBC module we will be able to get. EDIT: And also check this page out for info on the Emergency modules, which now seem to be a new VBS (VIMS) rather than extentsions ontop of current VBS. WP33
Much like the "real" USMC VBS1, likely this is stuff we civilians will never see. Not for retail sale. CTC will do a lot of custom programs for agencies and entities, so there are probably tons of things out there we don't even know about.
