bartboy
My life ended on Saturday 1st March, I remember it well. Master Cheif climbed into the last remaing ship and escaped as Halo was destroyed behind him. So ended my latest game, now I had to face reality again. I had to buy a new game, Ghost Recon was on my list so having faced the real world (and my girlfriend) for the weekend, I made my purchase on Monday. I started to read the instructions on the train on the way home, they seemed a little complex but I though I would get use to it. After jumping stright in to the first mission and having my squad cut to shreads in about 30 seconds I was disapointed. I wrongly assumed that Ghost Recon would be a bit like a multi player Splinter Cell, you know the kind of thing were you run around, find a few keys open some doors, shoot a few people and do your own thing. Having to control other people and tell them what to do was not what I expected, or wanted. Most annoyingly I kept getting my ###### kicked every time I attemped the first mission, even when my side did manage to kill the enemy I felt disapointed because more often or not it wasn't the player that I was controlling that was doing the killing. After about 2 hours and 10 attempts I was starting to think that I had blown my cash and was looking to trade it in. But slowly I started to get the hang of things. After a few more attempts I manged to complete the first level. I hit level two. You probably wont remember it but you have to rescue a pliot that is being held hostage in a farm house. This is when it started to get really interesting. I sent Alpha team to make their way to the front of the house taking out the enemy looking out the window while Beta team made their way around the side entrance, both teams made their way inside and crept up the stairs and took out the guard. That was when it hit me just how good this game was. If you have ever seen Aliens, when they first land on the planet and the troops are getting ready to go inside the complex and are running up to the door while taking cover along the way? Well Ghost Recon is a little like that, you get to call the shots and control where the troops go and what they do when they get their. GR is a fantastic game, and I am sorry I had those bad thoughts about getting rid of it. If you have brought it, or planning on buying it, make sure that you give it a fair chance before deciding to quit, honestly it really is worth the learning curve that you have to go though, you even start to feel sorry for you team members when they die. Especially when you blow their head off when looking for the map button as you do when you are learning. The only downside of the game is as well as being an armchair football critic, I am now going to become an armchair war critic and scream at the TV everytime I see a war film, complaining that you should go for the pincer movement not a frontal assault. I am going to brush up on my skills, as I cant wait to have a go online and pit my stragey against real people.

Rocky
Wait until you play online against human opponants with real tactics, and start using cover and camo to the point nobody can see you. You think you are enjoying Ghost Recon now? Muwahahaha, boy are you in for the time of your life
WhiteKnight77
Another one suckered in . Actually this is what happens. People think the game blows because they want to run and gun, til they find out they need to slow down and think a bit about their moves. Then they are blown away with how good the game actually is. Welcome to GR and GR.net.

Raptor9
From a guy who's only prior experience with FPS games was the Novalogic Delta Force Series(LOL), I too was extremely frustrated with this game at first. It takes time, but once you get the hang of it you quickly get hooked. Glad you like the game, and welcome to ghostrecon.net Welcome to the world of GR( also known as "are you on that bloody game again?") LMAO! Go ahead and tell your family, friends, and co-workers that they won't be seeing you for a while. And as far as your girlfriend goes, entire threads have been devoted here to the adverse effects of GR on relationships!

magnumkp
I'm filing a lawsuit against UBi/Red Storm/ Tom Clancey for: A. Loss of earnings from spending time on GR websites (I blame rocky, but I might as well go to the source of the problem). B: Money spent on pc upgrades and fixes to get the game to run in single player without lag. C: For lack of social life. I will let you know how I get on. MAGNUMKP SIGNATURE COMING VERY SOON!!!! AT LAST!!!! HURRAH!!!!

MERC7
Yup, ssame here. In fact when I first bought GR (before the patches) I only tried it for like 2 days then put it aside fopr like 6 months and didnt touch it. The the patch hit, the AI came to life and my team mates were actually taking smart, individual actions, I learned how to use the map better and discoverd what a rockin, cool mod community GR has and that was it.... I have Hitman 2 and Splinter Cell sitting on my desk and wouldnt you know it, they just dont seem to get installed. GR a cool, cool game. But for GR2 lets see a more interactive environment. As poor as the Nova Logic Delta series is (but very fun MP action ) take a lesson in map making and layout. If there is a building with a door, you can enter. If there is a ruined building, you can run up the rubble and enter the building, open windows, doors et. Well any way.... PS: BArt. Get the Tatical Gamer MOD. There is a breech explosvie included in many of the kits that is real cool. Edited March 5, 2003 by MERC7
