*NexuS*
Ok, i tried to set up an ambush using a claymore, when the tangos were in position I detonated the claymore. Got a satisfying BOOOM and puff of smoke and lots of very peeved tangos . Do they need to be deployed against walls/trees/rocks or on the floor like sensors? Does the main blast angle away from the deploy point or towards? I think claymores are vastly underused/estimated in GR but am having probs getting them to be effective. Kind souls reply here please..lol Alphasquad NexuS
Zantar45
I use Claymores every now and then and they are very useful in games where everyone is playing the game realisticly, but they are almost useless in rambo games. The blast radius is kinda like a protractor ruler ( half circle). The killzone is in the middle-ish era of explosion, while the maiming zones are towards the sides. The safe area is 10-15meters or feet ( cant remember) behind the claymore. The only main problem with them is that once you set one down, it cant be adjusted. There have been many times I accidently set a claymore a little bit too close to a wall making it almost useless because the enemies could wedge by it. EHT_TAW
I killed one person once with a clay.....He thought I cheated somehow....It was hilarious.... If you look on the clay it says on the front "FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY" it actually says that on the Real-World ones too....That too funny.... What they need is Sensor activated Clays....So you don't have to pull the trigger....
Zebb
Handy for removing doors with the enemy hiding behind them before you go in...
Donkey Fart
Hardly ever use claymores it's just aint worth the hassle of placing them for the tango's not to come near it...tripwire like original claymores would be cool could put 2 down then fire at tango's let them run towards you ,while you lay some fir down and boomm bye bye bad guy but got me thinking i might try them in mp never thought of that! ragodamdiculus
i like to use them in coop on the embassy mission, when i get to the building that u can get into, acroos the street where the baddies come out when ur team investigates the crash site, before its investigated i put a clay at the bottom of the steps so when they come running out i blow them up, then get up and shoot the survivors
WOLFAnubis
if/when i use them...i like to put them in popular choke points with a friend who drops a sensor near it. Embassy= in the alley/allies training= the darkroom near the stairs River(MP)= the top of the mountain near the walk going down Docks(MP)=between the office and warehouse but i wont give away all my secrets I can guarantee a great laugh when you see in red =="Your Name eliminated BlownupDeadGuy" Edited March 5, 2003 by WOLFAnubis
Zantar45
I can guarantee a great laugh when you see in red =="Your Name eliminated BlownupDeadGuy" Yeah when I do it, sometimes its hard for me to contain myself, and then I usually end up getting waxed soon afterwards by the back up of the dearly departed. San
I don't use them, because you must wait till someone steps on it, and you can't switch to your primary. And it's recommended that you'll need someone with sensors with you. If you do switch to your gun, is the claymore gone ? Or do you need to set it again ? And what exactly is the difference between a claymore and C4 ? Edited March 5, 2003 by San
Zebb
C4 is an explosive charge which needs a detonator to set it off, a claymore is and explosive charge packed with ball bearings which fly out towards the direction its facing when it explodes.. Zantar45
Yes you can set down a Claymore and switch to your primary weapon, you can leave the area and detonate it from afar. For example, put one on the slope leading out of the garage on the Embassy, climb up to the roof top and wait for some one to be near it then detonate, while your waiting you can pick off people with your primary.or put it in the alley or near a sensor and watch the map. Jex
"Do they need to be deployed against walls/trees/rocks or on the floor like sensors?" Place them on the floor like sensors with nothing in between it and your intended target. "Does the main blast angle away from the deploy point or towards" The blast will face the direction you are when setting it.
Cobblers
I'd still prefer to use an auto charge like the have in Raven Shield. Jeez, the fun I could have with that.
*NexuS*
Hey JEX, thank you, I'll go and try that now then, lots of fun stories though.lol
Max
Yesterday at embassy i put on the steps and was hoping to blow somone up as the came. Didnt work to well.. Oh well..
WOLFAnubis
you should get someone to place a sensor near it. before you leave the spot you plnted the claymore. study the location you man is on the map. that way its easier to judge when to pull the cord on him
