osokdfgr 0
My current graphics card, Geforce 5200, has croaked, apearently it can no longer render in 3d. I need a new card, I've narrowed my search to these two cards, which one is better? Do you know of a different, better card thats about the same price as these? ATI 9800 PRO 6600 GT the 6600 GT has faster mem/cpu speed and the reviewers games show more preformance. Thanks for any help.
CrowmanUK 0
I just upgraded from a GF4 Ti4400 128meg card to a XFX 6600GT and couldnt be happier, I can run GR at 1024x768@32bit with 8xAA and 16xAF and still get framerates in the 90's at times, mainly in the 60's though, thats with an xp3000 chip and 1gig of ram. VBS gives me 35fps on average at the same res with the AA and AF on too. I couldnt be happier with it but be aware you need a spare 4pin molex power lead to power it. CR6 0
Memory and CPU clock speed are not the only things you should look at. Even the Nvidia GF FX 5200 "Ultra" has a high memory/GPU clock speed, but is way crippled compared to the higher end cards. I always check the specs at this handy guide here: http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?locat...&var1=88&var2=0 Then compare other important specs: GeForce 6600 GT Pixel pipelines: 8 Pixel shader version 3.0 Fill Rate: 4000 MTexels/s Memory bus: 128-bits Memory bandwidth: 16.00 GB/s Radeon 9800 Pro Pixel pipelines: 8 Pixel shader version 2.0 Fill Rate: 3040 MTexels/s Memory bus: 256-bits Memory bandwidth: 21.76 GB/s Then do a bit more research around the web to look for head-to-head comparisons: although the 9800 has better memory bandwidth, the 6600 GT wins out in almost every benchmark here: http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2...html#benchmarks
