Webhosted images not showing

Recommended Posts

For some reason, images hosted by image-portals (like photobucket, imageshack, etc.) do not show up for me.

It pretty much happened after installing the latest security-patches (automatic update) for Windows, so I have a feeling that's whats causing it.

I though maybe the security-level had been raised and therefor blocking the third-party images, but lowering it didn't fix it.

Anyone know how to fix this or why it's happening?

Imageshack has all but stopped remote linking. I have seen images popping up in stating that fact. I don't know about Photobucket though.

Most ISP's offer webspace with their packages, more people should check into it. There may be a bandwidth cap though, but if you only upload small images, you should be fine.

I think it has to do with the Terms and Conditions of those sites, they are starting to block remote linking so images will not show up on other sites.

One way to check is to copy and paste the URL for the image into a new browser window, if it still does not show the image is no longer there, if it does show in the new browser window then it is a remote linking bar put in place by the image host.

Yeah, I sent D some links, and he couldnt see them, but I posted them on another forum and they showed up fine for everyone.

Your not using Firefox are you?

Theres a block images from this site option if you right click a image, maybe you accidently did this?

I'm using regular IE6 SP2.

I tried copying the link into the URL-bar but that didn't show the image either.

I can not see Chems' sig right now, for instance.

I have no clue why I can't see them, I was able to see them in the past.

You cant see my sig? But its so pretty. Thats at photobucket. Just an intresting question, do you have like a modem or router that you never take offline? I have a wireless router so its always connected to the net and never turned off. But sometimes it wont let me get on certain sites at all, only ones I go on all the time like GR.net. I just turn the router/modem off and on and it all works fine again. Maybe your getting a version of this?
