"Leash law" for cats?? OMG please tell me you're joking... But somehow, I just know you're not... Was that law drafted by the same people who imposed a fine of $500 for anyone caught detonating a thermonuclear weapon within the "city" limits of that village in CA...?

Some locations do have leash laws for cats. However, the idea is not very popular and not many states have this law.

My question would be: Why not a leash law for cats? Why is it appropriate to control a dog's movement and not a cat's? I'll let you cat lovers who think that cat's should be allowed to roam free come on over and dig the cat poop out of my flower beds and wash and wax my vehicle to get the cat prints and scratches off my car and vacuum off my deck furniture on a weekly basis to keep the cat hair away. I don't own cats and I get a little tired of having to clean up behind them. If dog's should be leashed, so should cats.

I don't own cats, matter of fact I am allergic to them, yet my apartment smelled like a litter box due to the next door neighbors continual feeding of a feral cat. She lived under our building and once a food source was constantly available, she allowed more of her offspring to live (those she killed off were left under the building too) and she and those who she allowed to live, used the crawl space for their toilet. Damnedable neighbor couldn't even stop feeding the bloody thing. I heard that it was found dead behind the cottage the landlord also owns.

Cats belong indoors and yes, as I said, there are places with leash laws for cats. I agree, all pets belong on a leash if out of doors. If I took my ferret outside, it was on a leash.
