U_WeesONE 0
when walking along in GR, the grass texures, (the flat one's covering the ground not the cut out one's) keep shivering and moving over the ground, and in some cases the polygons making the ground suddenly change shadow, what can I do? WhiteKnight77 1
Have you got the newest drivers for your vid card?
Dark Ranger 0
What are your In-Game graphic settings? You might try disabling both object and character shadows. They take a decent amount of system resourses, and should only be used it your video card can handle it. You can also experiment with other graphic settings, such as placing Map Textures on Medium, or Effects Detail/Texture at Medium or even Low. But it's up too you whether you want more graphic quality or game performance. Be sure to terminate all open programs on the desktop before launching Ghost Recon. U_WeesONE 0
the ati mobility is extremely hard to find up to date drivers for since ati don't make them. they say that all the mobility drivers are different because most laptops have different screans, so they leave it up to the manufacturers of the computer, in my case dell. I have yet to find a new ATI driver from dell, it's impossible to find one.
WhiteKnight77 1
Therein might lie your problem. Tho it is possible and can be done, GR wasn't really made to be played on a laptop. Have you tried to play on a regular PC and if so, do you have any problems there? You may want to try a set of the newer ATI Catalyst drivers for your laptop. Before you do try them make sure that you have the drivers that you are using now availiable to you lest you have a problem with the others and have to reinstall the original drivers. U_WeesONE 0
cheers I'll try that, but why would playing something on a laptop be anything different from playing on a desktop with similar specs?
Dannik 43
Because a laptop is not engineered in the same manner as a desktop. Essentially, to make it so small, energy efficient, etc... the laptop builders take shortcuts that don't necessarily seem obvious to the end user. Their hardware may not fully support Direct 3D, or they may not be able to efficiently parse certain categories of DLL files. In the laptop world, it's all about getting what you can out of a compact, scaled down package. Desktops don't suffer the proprietary woes (generally) that their smaller siblings tend to. As you yourself said, ATI doesn't make drivers available due to the differences between the LCD panels in different laptop makers/models. Desktops don't suffer this problem because their hardware can be designed to work with (theoretically) any combination of other hardware. More flexible, but a lot larger.
