Using audigy 2 Drivers with audigy Card

Recommended Posts

I have an Audigy Paltinum Card, but I'm currently having problems with this card under XP when Im playing GR.It was suggested that I download The Audigy 2 Drivers and use them instead..But the install of these drivers stops when it fails to detect an audigy 2 card..How do I get around this???

Thanks, I went to the site and was able to install the audigy 2 drivers..but unfortunately, I still get the same problem I was trying to fix..I get loud "pops and Crackles" during GR gameplay..This doesnt happen in any other game I play...ie Unreal Tournamet 2003 or Max Payne

I believe it is some hardware problem, maybe the card or the MB??

I dont know..

Asus A7N8X

Athlon XP 2000+

512 DDR Ram

Audigy Platinum

Any advice..

What kind of problems are you having?

The A2 drivers may or may not do the trick. Be sure your On-Board Sound is disabled (if any) in your BIOS. That will solve some issues. Also use the Troubleshooter for your Audigy card to see if the peripheral is causing problems or conflicts with your system. You can find the troubleshooter in the Control Panel/System/Hardware Tab/Device Manager. Find your Audigy card under sound, video, and game controllers, click Properties, then use the troubleshooter.

Hope this helps. :)

Edit: Ah, you posted again before I finished mine. :P

I still suggest the above. I have heard many people with this issue in GR. Myself included. I have the nForce mobo as well, and I still get crackles and pops. Still working on it, but if I find a fix, I'll let you know.

I suggest you try adjusting sound in DirectX. The diagnostic tool has settings for sound that can be adjusted from no acceleration to full acceleration try each setting to check popping sound. You have a setting in GR option for sound using EAX, try changing the settings around in GR after Directx if that popping sound continues. Good Luck and let forum know if problem is resolved. Make sure you have onboard sound disabled in bios. Sound has so many issues. :o=:o=

this is what you are looking for.

Mind you..this IS NOT for the "tech tarded"...you must do some intriquette stuff.

I would first check the IRQ's as stated before. Then from there make sure the drivers are updated. Check to see if there are any applications that you may run which you can either remove or stop in the back round. Sometime some applications will put codecs and stuff in the driver that can adversly affect your sound.

This site (IMO) is the goods. lots of little tech tidbits waiting to be absorbed

enjoy....but use at your own risk :o=

I must say, this looks like a fix. I'd recommend the pre-built patch though...it's much simpler. (You can download the patch at the end of the 1st paragraph.) Be sure to direct it to the right file folder.

So I fired up GR and played a mission...I think I counted 3 pops, compared to oh, 30 before. Perhaps other will have better results. It is a fix that I can live with.

Thanks for the link WOLFAnubis!

second that !

The patch has cleared up my pops & clicks no end. Still a few little glitches .. but its now playable as before it was a joke.

I also moved my soundcard to PCI slo4 (asus a7v33 motherboard) .. and that also helped, when I used this patch it then cleared up alot more.
