Yeh I see some cool accesories too, pro gamers pack, aluminium case etc.

Is that $250 inc. of shipping to the UK?

You mean Ubi 'aven't sent you one like? <_< ......you know.....to errrrr....test and stuff!!!

I heard Game stores in the UK are doing an N-Gage trade in deal. You get a 10 pence discount if you trade in fifty Nokia N-Gages for a PSP!

I think it's cool but right now I'd only buy it if I didn't have an iPod. The games that are out for it so far just don't grab my attention. I'd really like to hear about the quality of the digital video that it can play.

The reveiw at theregister.com today mentions the video - sounds awesome. There's a tool for download that converts movies to the correct format too so you can watch your own movies on the PSP too.

I sooooooo want one after reading that review and seeing those new images.

The biggest worry with the PSP is damaging it - especially scratching that lovely screen. My Value Pack came with a padded carrying pouch to protect the unit, and this is most definitely a "must have" item. You'd only need to put the PSP in your bag unprotected once in order for that screen to get ruined - something that's been the bane of many an iPod. There are already third party screen protectors available, and I can see myself investing in one of these very soon.

I've always thought it to be a little 'fragile' and mentioned this before. There are endless possibilites with this piece of kit and it'll go far. Hopefully the price will too.......but down ;) I foresee kids in the UK getting mugged for this hot item.

Throw away your iPods! Forget TiVo! That stuff is old hat—the Mainstream Entertainment Revolution began March 24th. The launch of Sony's PSP is arguably the biggest innovation in personal entertainment since their own Walkman and it ushers in a new era in the video game market for broad consumer gaming.

Mmmm.... ......saw the Wipeout demo yesterday. I've always liked the Wipeout games. Visually great and with a top music score. I've played Wipeout 3 in a regular CD player.

The PSP doesn't feel like you're holding $250 worth of gadget though

When Wipeout was first released on the original Playstation, wow, what an awesome release title. I remember I actually wrote to the dev team in Liverpool and they sent me back a sack load of t-shirts and stuff :D

I went to Psygnosis' offices once. At the time, and they still might be, they were actually owned by Sony. They also had an office in Leeds, and I think that's where Wipeout 3 was made.

Sales Tally Released

Sony Confirms PSP Launch Far From Sell-Out

It appears that the analysts were right. While Sony had originally expected to go through its first one million shipment of PSPs in the first week, they didn't even come close. Roughly 600,000 units were sold during week 1, but it's a very solid launch nonetheless. In fact, PSP software sales may be responsible for boosting the industry's software totals in March.

PSP goes Euro in September

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced today that the PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld will be released in Europe on September 9, 2005. Similar to the U.S., the PSP will only be available in a Value Pack that includes the system itself, a pouch, 32MB memory stick, battery pack, headphones with remote control, AC adaptor, and a video/music/game sampler universal media disc (UMD) including some non-interactive game demos. Spider-Man 2 on UMD does not come packaged with the Value Pack; instead interested PSP owners must register their PSP at yourpsp.com.

"PlayStation Portable will revolutionize portable entertainment, giving users the freedom to play full 3D games, watch movies, listen to music and connect wirelessly on their terms, wherever and whenever they wish to do so," said David Reeves, President of SCEE. "More than ever, today's consumer demands access to their personal entertainment outside the home, without compromising quality. With more than 100 PlayStation Portable game titles currently in development worldwide, and the ability to download and listen to music, and view feature films with breathtaking screen quality, PlayStation Portable lets users control their entertainment options, all in a single package."

The PSP Value Pack will retail across European PAL territories for the price of €249 ($324) and £179 ($342) in the U.K.

More expensive than the US I see. I imagine those in the UK have mains adaptor issues, ie. they can only use batteries at the moment. I'm not sure if PAL/NTSC is an issue either.

Still, a nice piece of kit though.
