Zenny 0
I'm using a Linksys BEFSR41 ver. 2 router. I am able to connect to other IP games, but unable to host. I have a static IP#, but it doesn't show up as that # in the game. I have RTFM, but nevertheless, just dont understand what exactly to do. I have done a search on this subject on the forums here, but still at a loss. I also have ZoneAlarm. I would appreciate any help on this matter.
Prophet 0
Hey there...I had a similar problem just last week involving being able to join games but not host. What I had to do was tell my router/modem to open ports 2346-2348 so that people joining my IP could use those ports to bypass the built-in firewall of the modem/router. Also, you may have to open those ports in ZoneAlarm as well.
WhiteKnight77 1
Yes, Prophet is right. Open those ports on your router and forward them to the PC you plan to host on. You will still need to give your friends your IP so they can join.
Prophet 0
Also, if you are getting the 192.168.1.1 or something similar to that, it is your internal IP for you modem/router. I can get my real IP through a modem command, but you can also get it by going to www.myipaddress.com. Even when you forward the ports and give your friends your external IP, when they enter it in (format will be IP.IP.IP.IP:PORT- Example #: 172.124.34.23:2346) the game may not show up, but if the go ahead and just click Join Game anyways they should get in.
