king1 0 Posted March 11, 2005 Share Posted March 11, 2005 ok i now have made my night map and put it in my mod but when i activate my mod it makes the original map change to night aswell 1 - how would i modify the files in my mod so it doesnt affect the orignal map , for example i made a night version of m01_caves but when i activate my mod it also makes the orignal map night , i need to get the orignal day map and my night map , not 2 night maps wich i currently have lol 2 - when i make a night version of a day map the trees are bright , and when i make a day version of a night map the trees are dark how can i fix this so the trees are dark on he night map and the trees are bright on a day map are there any tutorials for changing the lighting of the trees using the lighting tool? ??? can anyone shed some light on these problems plz ?? GRT 0 Posted March 12, 2005 Share Posted March 12, 2005 You have to use Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, Then you get the rsb plugin from the IT cd and put it in the plugins folder. You can then edit the rsbs and make them lighter/darker and add alphas over them to give them different sounds. Like i took a grass ground texture that sounded like grass when you walked on it and turned it into snow texture with snow sound. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
king1 0 Posted March 12, 2005 Author Share Posted March 12, 2005 (edited) AH cool i have photoshop pro 9 with the rsb plugin already but i cant use photoshop to its full extent yet lol ill go search a tut for photoshop thx grt ur a star m8 and id like to thank sleeper for that postway back cool im gonna dosome sound editing:) lol i got 1 more problem i have followed this tut http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/retexture.html a great tut ty firestarter i have made m01 caves snowing with the ground texture as snow , but when i try to the same for night version of caves it comes out good, but it uses the ground texture from the snow map i made a new ground texture for the night using photoshop renamed env file and so on used skinner tools 1.1 to make map run run of the new named textures i have but it still runs of the snow ground texture i dunno why this happens has anyone got any i deas ? maybe i need to put it in a certainfolder or something? i can post some screen shot of the map if u want thx Edited March 12, 2005 by king1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
GRT 0 Posted March 12, 2005 Share Posted March 12, 2005 Have you tried bludawgs retextured winter mod This mod contains 8 retextured maps in a winter/Fall sceen and also contains 2 new maps.1 which is provided by sleeper.It has winter camo by baja bravo. and one set By myself. Those tools are ancient. But if I remember correctly, the trees in GR are purely dynamic vertex lit. Basically, the lighting is not stored in a texture but rather in the vertices of the mesh, and therefore inside the .MAP file. The best you could probably do is just tweak the textures that are on the trees until they're bright or dark enough for you to use. The darkmaps however are very much tweakable.
