Dick Splash 23
I'd like to copy TV and camcorder film onto DVD to send back to the UK and I'm not sure about the following; a/ Will it be region free? b/ Will it be recorded in NTSC? c/ They would need a multi-region DVD player to watch them wouldn't they? Rocky 1,224
Forget the Region stuff, that's added by movie distributers, it doesn't apply to blank media. So (a) and © are not relevant. The format does though, when you encode the movie you will have to go into the options and set it to PAL format. Depending on your software this might or might not be possible, as it might be a one time setting.

You know, I asked three people the same question in 'Best Buy', that awful retailer I used to work for part time, and none of them could answer, nor were they aware of the nine regions .......stupid.......stupid company. CR6 0
DS, what video editing software and DVD authoring/burning software are you planning to use? I found that even WinXP's built-in Movie Maker 2 works really well in a pinch, and can encode in NTSC/PAL in several different video formats.

I have to say I've not even looked into the finer points of this years [fingers crossed ] much needed upgrade. I see there's several titles out there, and Roxio's seems to be a popular one. I'll be really pleased though if I could record in either PAL or NTSC. That would be 'supersmashinggreat' and 'splendidly' convenient too . You know what would be even more convenient, assuming both parties were suitably 'armed', to be able to just save onto the hard drive and then email it to them. I imagine that the file would have to be somewhat condensed! DS
