X69RZX 0
I was wondering if any one knew more about the pda item. There is an item in the hand held item tool, but it isn't declared in the strings, and even if you place a random object in for it, say a sensor, and add it to the strings, it still does nothing. Of course a pob and qob for the actual pda could be made, but what does it do? I suppose nothing, but I have to ask. I've never seen any triggers or responses, even queries, that refer to it, so I am to assume it was never fully implemented. Any of you guys figured on this at all? I tried to do a search, but came up with nothing.
The_Slink 0
I've also noticed it. Is there even a model?
Billy Bongwater 0
The model for pda.itm is iw_binocs_angvs.qob. Edited March 1, 2005 by Billy Bongwater
X69RZX 0
A model could be made rather easily, to any fashion the modder so desires, it is the actual fuction that is important.
The_Slink 0
It might have been meant to be used in a similar way to the cig and beer?
X69RZX 0
The thing is, the cig and beer are tagged as binocs. The PDA item has its own tag, although it isn't claimed in the strings. I may be shooting in the dark, but I'm just curious if any of the other old timers may have messed with this during the course of the past few years. I've never seen any reference to it, nor any triggers or responses in IGOR, however, I don't know much so I figured I would ask. Perhaps there is some other toggle that needs to be set besides just the strings in order for it to work, in what ever capacity it does work. I can't figure exactly what a PDA would do for you, except maybe transfer coordinates, and or text. Anyway, I just thought it might be something we could all use to add something new to some of our mods. Perhaps someone with some insight will stumble across this thread. X69RZX 0
everyone hasnt been thru maybe. Serellan, Wolfsong, El Oso, Delyte, there are others, someone will know something...............even if its nothing........
BornToKill 0
All it does is give you binos. The pob and Qob file spots just define what the Handheld and Ground placement models look like.In this case just the qob handheld model is there. Think it had something to do with Pre IT kits not sure. So in otherwords its useless.
X69RZX 0
OK. First, I'm talking about a whole category of possible item, like, binocs, bomb, frag, ect, the ones you can see in the drop down menu in the hand held item editor, for creating new hand held items. There is a whole category called, "PDA". Like I said, you can, of course, substitute any properlly tagged model in the blanks, yes, but what does it do? It's not the same as the binos, cause I added it to the strings and added the sample kit to my loadout and it does nothing. I am just curious if anyone may have delved into this before, or if it has never been really looked at, or if it was looked at and decided to be a dead end. I'm looking at it, but from the game engine end of things, there are some around here with more experience and time w/ GR than me.
