jmcdonald Posted February 21, 2005 Share Posted February 21, 2005 (edited) As I might get VBS1 soon I was just writing down stuff bout' VBS1 and I got all this: Mission Names: (Sorry if someone has used name already) Black Thunder Silver Lightning Cobra Watch Snake Strike Blazing Guns Black Watch (If i do get VBS1 I will make a mission based on them.) Mission Objectives: 1. Meet contact at -insert place- (eg. Village, Forest etc) 2. Eliminate Enemy perimeter guards Unit Ideas: (I don't know what's available so I'll just post what I got) U.S Delta Force (Like in Black Hawk Down) U.K SAS Israeli Defence Force Weapons P90 SPAS 12 Shotgun MAC-11 (Tango) UZI (Tango) So what do you guys think? And could please explain the basics of mission design in VBS1's mission maker/editor? (or post a link) I may add to this list so if you're interested then check back again. dekela Posted February 21, 2005 Share Posted February 21, 2005 what do you do after you clear the perimeter? there is no brit SAS or IDF no P90, spas or mac, unless your thinking of modelling them there is a manual that comes on the core cd that covers scripting missions, and heaps of help at ofpec.com cheers...... Pave Low Posted February 21, 2005 Share Posted February 21, 2005 Might be an Idea to wait until you’ve got the game, dabbled with the editor a bit and you’ve seen what units/weapons are actually available to you and decide what is possible instead of posting your rough thoughts publicly like this . Most VBS1/OFP mission scriptors will already have their own ideas on mission names, scenarios, locations Etc that they plan to use (Usually notebooks full of scribbles and ideas ), but wont "go public" on a project until they have something actually in the production stage. Once you have got a specific mission scenario fleshed out and you’ve started work on it then I’m sure the guys will be only too willing and able to pitch in with scripting advice, help and feedback. A lot of the stuff there just wont be available to you in VBS1 at the moment. VBS is a commercially geared product hence the very specific packs released. So unlike OFP there are not thousands of units, weapons and other 3rd party addons readily available to just D/L “off-the-shelf” and use in any scenario imaginable so in VBS1 you will have to make the scenario’s fit only those units/equipment/location’s which are available to you. For example there are currently no P90 or shotguns and no UK or IDF forces made for VBS1. There is a good manual that comes with VBS1 and covers getting started in the editor Have a look in the OFP - Modding: Mission Scripting forum here for some links to tutorials When you get the game you will be able to access the VBS Resources website which has a good selection of information for D/L EG Command references and other VBS1 specific references. There is a plethora of tutorials and sites out there covering scripting and mission making in OFP, just visit any of the well established OFP sites and most of the information and links will be relevant to VBS1.
