PHASE 1- RECON PHASE 2- ASSAULT PHASE 3- EXTRACTION Unit: RECON ELEMENT - 2 man Sniper Team GCE (Ground Combat Element) - 11 man Raid Volunteers composed of USMC and SASR AT specialists ========(Missions Objectives)======== RECON Obj - Provide Observation of the target and information prior to the initial raid. GCE Obj - Search and then destroy 2 SCUD Launchers located at camps deep within the hostile zone. After which, eliminate a russian scientist at one of the camps. Then, safely acquire a certain "package" located next to the scientist. Once package has been acquired, make it back to the truck. CrowmanUK 0 Posted January 30, 2005 Share Posted January 30, 2005 The temptation to start hitting the first camp I saw was too much and I got wiped out, 3 times So I came in from a different side and pretty much the same thing happened, I'm blaming the AI, stupid bunch of duffers. EricJ 0 Posted January 30, 2005 Share Posted January 30, 2005 (edited) Well, I ran through the first camp, I simply put 3 and 4 in the Hummer, and they provided fire support until they got killed at the first camp (simply made them follow me in formation, though in retrospect, I should have used the LRPV as well... oh yeah, after I took the first camp, but the tank ended that idea...). I managed to get as far as the scientist (used an M24 for the initial camp, then had to "borrow" an AK, then the grenadier's M16/203, as well as a Ural truck) before getting wiped out (had four people left, including me). It's a good mission though, lots of OPFOR to tangle with, and the tanks were an unwelcome surprise. But I agree, you need human players to run through this mission. I didn't get wounded until I found the first Scud, but then I just pushed on, there was a tank blocking my return to the hospital tent, so I didn't do it. But I tell you, one thing that's good about OFP/VBS1? The ability to grab an RPG, just love to use them (not to get shot at by them). I like the idea of a non-linear (in a way) of finding the target, rather than knowing where it is. Unfortunately you can't randomize (can you?) the locations, so it's obvious the next time. But it was fun running around in a Ural truck looking for SOMETHING to shoot at, and ended up at the scientists camp. I almost made it, I waxed the scientist, but then I got mobbed, and didn't last long after that.. But it's definitely fun for SP, better than Urban Takedown, in the sense you in a way have a manageable way to use your forces, and take a breather. Maybe a night version?
