ewok 0
I'm new to GR so bare with me...I have recently loaded up a few mods and am struggling to play them. I have read the info on them and they say to 'use Desert Seige and Island Thunder to run the mod.' I have all of the updates/patches installed - currently 1.4. Just guessing but are the files mp1 and mp2 (located under the mods file), Desert Seige and Island Thunder respectively? If so how can i run them, as i dont see these files under mods in GR, (or are they already running)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
GRT 0
When downloading a mod extract the mods folder to your GR/Mod folder. MP1 is DesertSiege, MP2 is Island Thunder. If they arent showing up when you load GR and goto options/mods, then you have put the mod folder in the wrong place. If they show up then all you have to do is click the mod on the left when your in the options/mods, then click activate in the middle then click OK at the bottom right. ewok 0
That is what seems to be the problem, i dont see them and they are in the right spot (simply from the install file).. F:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods\Mp1 F:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods\Mp2 I go into options/mods and they aren't on the left hand side to activate? Dont know why? Edited January 27, 2005 by ewok
GRT 0
Hmm, go in your main GR folder and right click. Goto New, then add a new "text document". Call it "modsset" (withouth the " "). inside that txt file paste this in.. // MODS SETTINGS - LIST OF MODS ACTIVE ON THIS SYSTEM "\mods\mp1" "\mods\mp2" I dunno why DS and IT wouldnt show up in your mods list. You can also goto your GR/mods/mp1 and mp2 folder and inside those two folder should be a txt file called "ModsCont". If you dont see those files you make want to reinstall DS and IT. Hopefully someone else that may have had this problem will post in here before you reinstall those 2.
ewok 0
I may be getting ahead of myself here, but i only bought GR - i thought the updates included DS & IT? If not then i guess i've got to go and buy them.
GRT 0
Yes Desert Siege and Island Thunder are expansions not mods. Their pretty cheap if you can find them seperate. The updates just fix some things in the game itself.
Dannik 43
Desert Siege and Island Thunder are commercial add-ons. Although patching makes you compatible with them, it doesn't actually give you the content in said mods. Thus, you can play Ghost Recon maps with folks with DS/IT if you patch, but you cannot access DS/IT content without purchasing and installing them. The two expansions may be a bit hard to find these days, but if you do, they should be very inexpensive.
WhiteKnight77 1
Did you happen to get the Ghost Recon Gold Edition? If so, you already have DS and IT. Did you install the second disk?
ewok 0
No was just the normal edition, I've just bought a new computer and had GR on my old PC which i got [Edited - Forum Rule 3.7] wouldnt install on XP, so i saw it for around $20AU - and got it. Saw no other 'Gold editions' or other expansion packs for it. I think i'm going to have a bit of a hard time trying to find them. Might just forget it all together. Thanks for all your help anyway guys. Edited January 27, 2005 by Pave Low
