VBS doing (un) funny things

Recommended Posts

I've recently added an extra 1/2 Gig ram, and it's been running really nice. Everything full, the mutts nutts.

Tonight as I went to start it it gave me the message

CreateVertexBuffer (static, seperate) failed 8876017c - out of memory?

The error message is as exactly as I got it.

Any ideas?

Maybe something is wrong with the last memory stick you put in? Try to run memtest86, ---> http://www.memtest86.com/ This will tell you if something is wrong with the chip. I haven't run it myself, but some of my friends that have had some problems have used it and found errors in the chip so I think it's a useful tool.

Yea, that is probably a good idea. What you also could try to do is to pick out the stick again and see if that helps if you still have the problem after you have re-installed. It's really weird if such a problem just comes straight out of the air, but computers is like womens you have to spend some time with them to get some fun ;)

This error

ofp_error.jpg

was very common in OFP and was due to running out of video memory.

Do you have terrain set to very high ?

If you changed the terrain detail to Very High and can't start OFP anymore, go to the folder where your UserInfo.cfg file is stored (i.e. Flashpoint\Users\YourCoolPlayerName) and open UserInfo.cfg using Notepad. Find the TerrainGrid line and delete it, or change it to terrainGrid=50.000000;
