Hi there again.

Well I am kind of lost on how to install free addons.

First about Intro.Mau_Samet, where am I supposed to put in the main folder?

Right now I put it in my addon folder as a its own folder, is that correct?

Also, if I have a .pbo file am I supposed to put them in my dta folder or as a single file in my addon folder?

I also got the RAPIER file but again same problem, what file goes where? I have been reading the official recources forum but I can not find it.

And I am unable to locate where I can find those listed addons:

USMC HMMWV Pack

"saboteurw"

"BAS_TSF"

"BAS_SF1"

"BAS_GUR"

"FK_HMMWV"

bis_resistancet

.

If this solution is really simple I can only say I am sorry but I am really lost right now.

I have seen a lot of topics but I dont see any link to download sites.

Thanks.

Ok i can tell you where i have mine and they seem to work fine so lets take it from there shall we ? ;)

(Obviously your drive letter may be different from mine but the file location will still be the same)

Intro.Mau_Samet, and the ADF2_Rapier all go in my :

D:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\VBS1\missions folder.

All my other pbo files go individually into my:

D:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\VBS1\addons

apart from the "Scenes T1 and Scenes T2" folders which are put in there by the extractor anyway, if any pbo files have to go in any other location you normally get told in the "read me" files.

You can find all the BAS addons here: BAS Addons

You might well find some of those other addons on the VBS1 main page addons site VBS1

and check in here for some of the other sites with the addons:

Addons

Let us know how you get on mate and we can pick up the few loose ends you might have left....

Hi and thanks for the help so far.

But to be sure.......my Intro.Mau_Samet folder contains .sqs and .sqm files. In my mission folder I do not see any other files than .pbo files.

Or should I put the folder Intro.Mau_Samet (as a folder not lose files) in my mission folder?

If so should I also put it in MPmissions aswell to be able to play those maps online?

And thanks for those links, I will download the files asap :)

I just have it as a whole folder in my missions folder without removing anything ..

It still works in MP as well so i guess thats ok, as i said it everything works ok but i have no doubt that one or two files may be in the wrong place because there was so many files/folders to install and i wasnt sure of a couple of them....

Hi there again.?

Hi again mate...and Zebb this if for you too as u've put some file in the wrong Folder :o

Well I am kind of lost on how to install free addons.

First about Intro.Mau_Samet, where am I supposed to put in the main folder?

It should go into the VBS1 Add on Folder. Out because it starts in Winrar format it will creat a sub folder called Mau Samet...just go to this sub folder and select all files and copy them and past direct into Add on Folder...u should have the Mau Samet .pbo in ur add on folder and also another sub folder joing the T-1 and T-2 Scenes...keep that folder there it has the .sqs and .sqm files..

Right now I put it in my addon folder as a its own folder, is that correct?

Correct make sure it hasn't put all the file for mau Samet into a sub folder..

Also, if I have a .pbo file am I supposed to put them in my dta folder or as a single file in my addon folder?

Put them in ur add on folder if they are add ons. Missions also use .pbo format but as long as u know if there a mision or add on ur fine...

I also got the RAPIER file but again same problem, what file goes where? I have been reading the official recources forum but I can not find it.

Goes into VBS1/Add on folder

And I am unable to locate where I can find those listed addons:

USMC HMMWV Pack

PM me mate..I'll send u the link ;)

"saboteurw"

"BAS_TSF"

"BAS_SF1"

"BAS_GUR"

These are actually the Official BAS add ons which are found at the VBS resources Website that Zebb posted a link to...

VBS Resources

Once at the site use the log in u'd normally use for the Forums and then go to add ons options on ur left and u should see some of these present... if they are not there just contact Seventh..

bis_resistancet

I'll send it to you via e-mail it's only 2KB...

Thats why i was confused mate because the mission worked ok when the folder was in the missions one and not the addons, very strange, and when i move some of the files ie, the Rapier one from mission to addons i cant see it in the game anymore, but when i put it back in missions it works ok, i surrender ... :ermm::(

I can feel a clean reinstall coming up......

Hi and thanks for the help so far.

But to be sure.......my Intro.Mau_Samet folder contains .sqs and .sqm files. In my mission folder I do not see any other files than .pbo files.

For you and any others confused, a mission that has not been PBO'd will contain at the very least a .sqm file and possibly other .sqs files. It is still playable, just place the folder the sqm file is contained in your missions (or mpmissions for MP) folder. FYI sqs are script files and sqm files are the mission files. Some guys like to send missions in the unPBO format so you can open them up in the editor and see how it's done.

In these cases the parent folder of the mission will look something like

"Mission Name.intro" without the quotes. Suffix "intro" refers to the map the mission it is designed on. In this case it is the core Island. Other suffixes will be:

.dest for desert map

.noe for European map

.cain for European (Barren) map

.eden for European (Lush) map

.abel for European (Dry) map

.subt for subtropical map

.snow for, well no guesses here...;)

.mau_samet for Mau Samuet.

Another alternative to play this type of mission is to place in your VBS1/Users/yourname/missions folder. Open up the mission editor and select the map the mission is on based on the above. This will then load up the un-PBO'd mission in the editor. Select save and in the drop down menu choose "export to MP missions" or "export to SP missions" depending on the mission type.

Escape out of the editor and select your mission to play. You will also now note that there is a new copy of this mission with a PBO file extension in your missions (or mpmissions) folder. Something like "ThisMission.dest.pbo"

As a general rule of thumb, if the PBO file you have has a preceeding file extension (from the above list) then it's a mission.

Cheers,

Thanks guys thats a lot clearer now....

I have cleared out anything extra from my Addons folder and put all my mission folders in my "Mission" and "MpMission" folders and they all seem to play ok so i'll keep an eye on it and see how we go......

Btw, i have been playing an Aus mission that i d/l'd from the vbs site and i get an odd error mesage, any ideas ?

z1 and z2 |#| z3 ==1': Error and: Type object, expected Bool

It sits at the top of the screen in white lettering and stays there all through the mission and even when you drop out back to the main screen, doesnt seem to affect the gameplay though..

Zebb,

let me know what the mission name is and I'll have a look (hopefully it isn't one of mine  )

It basically means that the script expected to receive a Boolean response, but received an object. Only due to incorrect syntax by the looks of where the " |#|" is located (I think an "AND" was left out)

Anyway - it's just a scripting error and should not effect gameplay....but it will effect what the script was supposed to do.
