el nino foxhound 0
Hi all. First I would like to say that this game is great, I decided to buy this game after reading all your posts and looking at all pics you guys showed here. You did a great job convincing me But I have a few, I think, minor problems. 1) I can NOT see the compas bar in my top of my screen, the manual told me there should be one. I never know where I am walking towards. I have used the "G" button to look at my compas. Anyone can clearify me if that is normal? 2) In the options screen I see in the sounds there is EAX sound support. I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, DR release 1.84.40 but if I set the EAX options to enabled it automattically resets itself to disabled. What is wrong here? 3) I get some weird looking errors at the top of my screen often. I did make a few screenshots of them. Could one of you maybe help me how to fix this? error 1 error 2 error 3 4)Random computer crash when playing the core missions. Now and than but never at the same point my entire computer freezes. It just stops, I than can only do a full system reboot. It seemed to me it helped disabling my Norton internet security (although I was playing SP missions). But I would really like to play some MP later and I never will connect to the net without at least my firewall. Does anyone of you know about this problem? I dont not know what more info you need so here I will just post my specs. pentium 4 3,2 Club3D Radeon 9800 pro 128MB 1024 MB ddr Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, DR release 1.84.40 Thanks for the help. CrowmanUK 0
I only got my copy of VBS yesterday but here goes, 1, I cant remember seeing a compass at the top of the screen in ofp or vbs, I always use G to bring up the compass to see what direction I'm moving 2, I've been having problems with my sound lately too and have to go into the speaker settings and on the advanced part change it to 5.1 speakers as it keeps reverting to desktop stereo speakers If you've got a decent speaker/headphone setup make sure thats set right and VBS should keep your settings. 3, I've not encountered those specific errors but they look like scripting errors, something was expected and it didnt get what it wanted so it shows you the error. Might be an idea to show what mission it happened on so the experts can take a look. Hope that helps you a bit mate
Zebb 7
I have had the scripting errors once on a mission but i think i had alt tabbed out and came back, once i restarted the mission again it was gone, i have found a couple of missions that you cant play because certain files are missing but other than that its been fine... T_1 0
There's a compass bar when you are crewing a vehicle IIRC in OFP. Dunno about VBS tho
DaSquade 0
@el nino foxhound: I think you will find more info/help at the vbsresources site. Since you have purchased VBS1, you will have a "customers nr" (located on USB stick hanger). Mail your customers nr too david@bistudio.com and you will receive a password (AFAIR). Just give them (Seventh) some time...In the end, it are holidays after all. 1. Anyway, the EAX bug can be fixed by DLing the audio mod (witch can be found on the VBSresource site). 2. The compass is (AFAIK) only visible when you code it that way in the mission.sqm. Someting like CanseeCompass=1...but i'm not shure about the code..ext. 3. Not shure about the errors..but i suppose that is only in some missions. AFAIK the core update (witch aslo can be found as VBSresources) fixed those. PS: Gelukkig nieuwjaar Happy Newyear
Gordo_Viper 0
@ El Nino some of ethe erros in core Missions are sound related- i.e. VBS1 never shipped with a Voices.pbo (military didn't need it) so the OFP Voices.pbo can work in it...I can't remember if i use it now or not but you can turn the voices oof completely by turnign the volume down on radio...as if ur on Teamspeak/MP u don't need the Voices melting ur ear drums for you. And yeah for some reason VBS1 doesn't like some certain fire walls esp Time Zone for some reason...connecting to a dedi server is NP with those but for directplay option u'll prob need to disable that to connect. Ruski 0
I had these errors and was told to download the latest VBS_core.pbo from the resource site and presto it fixed it. So try that.
el nino foxhound 0
Thanks for the help so far guys. I am checking all possible options. But another problem got on my way now. Mission 1 of the core...........after playing around as a medic and get the chopper to pick up the wounded slodier we are transported with a truck. In that new zone there is a full scale war with tanks and support chopper. Well that mission is not playable for me. It lags like *******. Every 3 seconds the game hangs for 2 seconds shortly after another. So I can see enemy that change position of 10/20 meters within 1 second. If I walk or run it is really bad. 3 seconds normal and than it goes slow....slower......very fast.....slow and bangggggggggg I am 25 feet further than the split second before. I have been searching some forums already but havent found an answer yet, I also did set all settings like you guys mentioned in another thread here about bad FPS. I can also see that the lagging has to do with my screen being updated......you know, the trees far away get leaves and stuff. Well when that happens it lags the worse. And yes, Happy new year to everybody here at ghostrecon.net [EDIT] I have requested acces to the forums the day before yesterday but well I guess those guys have some quality time now [EDIT] Edited January 1, 2005 by el nino foxhound
el nino foxhound 0
That particular problem only happens at the first core mission. I have finished all SP missions and there never was a lag problem except mission 1 (I did not finish this one). Maybe that battle is just a little to much although I think my comp should be able to handle it. Now I am going to download dxdll to see how it looks like after that. But first its party time. C u all when I get sober again
