DOG-ZEBRA 0
i am experiencing lag and sound stuttering when i play my newly installed far cry game. it is exactly the same performance problems i faced when i played KOTOR, but then i though i was taxing my 512 megs of ram (the min req), only now i have a gig. i far exceed the min requirements, and i have tried turning down the res w/ no luck. any suggestions? my computer: 128 video card 5.1 sound blaster live! 1024 ram 2.66 mhz processor directx 9c thanks
firefly2442 0
Make sure you have the latest video card drivers. I've got a slightly faster system then yours and I had to turn down the graphics a bit from full because it's just a very graphically intense game. HTH. pz3 338
you might want to be a slight bit more specific. If you dont know all your computer specifics try downloading this program Here And you can find out a little bit more. A lot of mis understanding is that a even though u may have the recommended MB and Mhz or Ghz... That doesnt always mean it will supply flawless gameplay on high or even medium graphics.... Things like for example. a 128mb 9800pro will out peform somthing like a 256mb 5500. The diffrence is the memory speeds and GPU speeds. 2.2ghz amd is faster then a 2.2ghz pentium or for say PC2800 ram is much much slower then PC3200 List some more of your system specifications, Edited December 27, 2004 by Prozac360
DOG-ZEBRA 0
thanks for trying to help guys, here is the sound issue info from ubi: Sound Issues The most satisfactory sound can be obtained by setting the main output volume fairly high in the Windows Volume Control and reducing the Wave Out/DirectSound/Wave output volume to avoid saturation. • Creative SoundBlaster Live and Audigy, nForce2 and onboard AC97 users: If some audio clicks or saturation problems appear, try to reduce the hardware acceleration of your soundcard (advanced properties). • Set the quality of the sampling rate conversion to “optimal”. • Try to disable EAX in the sound options game menu. • If audio clicks appear during the game, go in your configuration panel/sounds (multimedia/audio/advanced/performances etc) and set the hardware acceleration to the second position (2 out of 4). Set the quality of the sampling rate conversion to "optimal". • Select the "Compatibility mode" in the sound options menu to help solve these driver issues. • Click Start, then Run. Type: dxdiag and then click “sound”. Move the hardware slider down one notch to Standard Acceleration, then close DXDiag and try FC again. If this doesn't work, continue to lower the hardware acceleration until you can find a suitable setting. • Some short sound losses can occur with the sound cards based on the NForce2 sound chipset. • Some users with onboard sound may experience white noise “hiss” creep in after playing for a while. • Some nForce onboard sound cards can cause gun and environment sound to be lost. unfortunitly i cant find: configuration panel/sounds (multimedia/audio/advanced/performances etc) and set the hardware acceleration to the second position (2 out of 4). Set the quality of the sampling rate conversion to "optimal". @firefly2442, how do i go about turning down the graphics? @prozac, the site has gone down but here is a little more specific info: NVIDA GeForce FX 5200 128mb intergrated RAMDAC pentium 4 i can't rember the ram specs thanks again
KRP 56 92
The FX5200 has more than it's hands full with Far Cry. Even some of the very high end vid cards strain some with Far Cry. Windows sound settings can be found by clicking on the control panel in the start menu.
firefly2442 0
To turn down graphics goto Options when at the Main Menu. If I remember correctly the game automatically figures out a pretty good config but I went in and tweaked stuff. Turn down resolution, graphics details, and especially try turning OFF anti-aliasing. This can kill your FPS rate.

Runs all the games at max and its 2 years old this year.
supasniper 0
because a gf4 isn't directx 9 compatable so where as an fx will try to process the dx9 stuff a gf4 will effectively say "can't do that ###### off" to the dx9 stuff and only runs dx7/8 parts and does it very well
