joe.50 0
Uhh... we've seen the GR2 characters. Any chance you character modders gonna make them for GR1? hehe jus askin
Foxtrot 0
Why not just wait for GR2? By the time anyone would have them out for GR1 GR2 would be out on PC so your better off just wait for GR2.
GothicSnake 0
I wanna see the GR2 team as GR1 specialists, too, they are just so cool and realistic looking. The earliest GR2 will be coming to us is March, I believe, and even if it was out, right now, I'd still want to see this mod b/c I, for one, would not just drop GR1 and never touch it again. Hell, I have Raven Shield and I still play the very first R6 every now and then. Comeon, someone... :'(
Foxtrot 0
Oh did I forget to about COPYRIGHT?!?! Yeap UBI will be up the ass of whoever makes a mod with GR2 skins most likely.
GothicSnake 0
I really dont see how, I believe that would only be copyright breach if you used the materials (models/textures) from GR2 to make the mod...and if not, it would have to be an exact copy, you cant really get on someone in a case like this b/c it's just soldiers w/ a mix of standard issue gear and special gear from Blackhawk/Eagle/Oakley etc, who's to say it's from GR2, and who's to say they're the only ones that can make some realistic looking modern SF operators? I've seen real pictures of SF guys that look exactly like some of the dudes from the game. If Ubi would actually be such dicks about it, then just make similar looking skins, change the names (although I'm not sure if that would matter, you cant really copyright a name, can you?) and call it "realistic Army SF" or some such BS...Idk, but I would like to see specialists that look more realistic like the GR2 team does and many of the pictures from Iraq (which would basically be the GR2 team w/ desert camo), if not direct copycats of GR2's ODA. :lol Once I finally can find a copy of 3dsmax 3, 4, or 5, and depending on how well I'm able to pick it up, I just might try it myself, but it would be really cool if an expert at this whole modeling thing would take a shot at it. Foxtrot 0
Your choice bro. I'm just advising you against it.
Argyll 1
How could you extract skins from the Xbox or the PS2? It would be easy enough to create the characters in 3dmax,hell Para and I had almost the same concept for DYNACOMP,not GR2's copyright, but mine and Para's.....we made the characters!!! Foxtrot 0
Dont ask me my friend. These 2 were the ones with the stupid idea.
GothicSnake 0
Stupid idea? When the hell did I say to use stuff from GR2? Not only is that impossible at this point seeing as the game is only on consoles, that's not what I said, what I said was that I believe it would only really be copyright breach if you ripped the skins from the game (which we cant even do, at this point, so that is moot.) Maybe you should read a bit more carefully before you call somebody stupid, Mac.
Foxtrot 0
You'd still be ripping em off UBIs chartactors so its a stupid idea unless you like getting sued. So maybe you should think before you speak "Mac"
GothicSnake 0
How? Ripping what? I just said that it wouldn't be a good idea to use their materials, and it's not even possible to do that at this point anyway! And unless you make an exact down to the irish penants copy of the characters, you cant be be sued b/c it's just military gear! There are plenty of real operators who wear the same kit the characters in the game do, which is my whole reasoning for wanting this type of mod. You still dont understand, I'm not looking for nor asking for an exact copy of the GR2 characters, especially b/c you seem so 100% convinced that Ubi would just have to sue, what I want to see is a group of specialists that are similar to them b/c they're the most realistic characters I've ever seen. Even with that said, if somebody were to come out with an exact replica of the GR2 team, I really doubt Ubi would go as far as to take legal action, I dont see Red Storm suing Bajabravo over that R6 character set he made a long time ago, nor do I see EA out for blood b/c the War Of Infamy team used sounds from MoH for their mod. I've never seen anything like that over a GR mod, ever, so excuse me if I'm a little skeptical of any legal ramnifications over a simple character mod for a 5 yr old game.
