beerbelly30 0
Im workin on a new sound mod (similar to kaffees sound mod)-but i cant seem to get gr to play the right(new) gun sounds-It seems to only play the M16_ss file for every single gun (ive done all of the sounds for five guns so far). The file names are all correct as i named them all after gr's default sounds. My sound files arent the same length as the original sounds-will this make a diference? Do i have to replace ALL of the gun sounds in gr? Do i need to redo all of the gun files? Any help is much appreciated, Thanks.
GRT 0
Make sure there in the same format has the default sounds. And did you overwrite the default sounds or make a mod folder and put them in there?

TRC 0
Negative on having to redo all the gun sounds BB. Did you do an effects file for your sounds? If you didn't and your sound file lengths are different from the original, the game may be going with the .wav file that matches the length stated in the original effects file. To see if that might be the cause, take just one of your gun sounds, make sure it matches length of the original. Kafee might be a good one to contact to see if he encountered similar problems. I've always just created a new effects xml for my personal mod, and used different name for weapon sound and have had no problems. One last question--did you do a modscont.file for you sound mod and activate it? Order should be origmiss, mp1, mp2, BB's sound mod should be last in line to have priority. GRT 0
I know what your prob is. Like TRC said. You have to add a effects.xml file. To do this go in Igor, then goto Tools, then Sound Volume Editor. Click Select Sound Folder and point the directory to your mods sound folder. After that click Reconcile. Then you may want to edit the Absolute Rolloff for the gun sounds. 15-25 is good for silenced guns. 150 and up is good for regular guns. If you leave it at 2000 enemys across the map will hear your gun and will be alerted. Also you shouldnt have to match the length of the default sounds to yours. Just make sure its 16bit, 1mono, and 22 or 44 khz. TRC -orgimiss isnt a mod. Edited December 18, 2004 by RR_GRT
pz3 338
To just replace regular sounds, Make sure the fileformat is correct, and palce in a mod sound folder with the same name. It will work. If you still have problems in the sound folder try creating another folder and placing them in that, make sure NO .xml files are in the same folder as the sounds your replacing. beerbelly30 0
Still having problems-created new mod folder for sounds-used same filenames as originals.problem is when sounds are played gr only plays the first gun sound(m16,say) and then proceeds for every character(with diff weapons) to play that sound.Re installed gr to see if this is prob-still happening, so removed my xml file from mod-Success!! my sounds now play alongside the original -the only problem is that i cant reconcile my sounds or add an xml file as doing this just makes it revert back the original problem-anybody got any ideas?? Thanks again, bb
TRC 0
@RR GRT--my bad--been using gak-firestar's mod manager so long I often forget origmiss is not a mod . BB, Prozac saw your problem--leave out the xml as long as your sounds will play. If you want your sounds to be louder or softer than the originals, give your sounds new names then you can do an xml for effects, example bb_m16_ss, bb_m16_ts instead of w_m16_ss, w_m16_ts.
