I would like to see less accurate enemy AI when targeting squads or one person. They generally aren't as well trained or accurate as Spec forces and Eliteteams, therefore it is only reasonably assumed they will be less accurate. Running and shooting accurately don't mix! :o= Also at night and dusk they have an unnerving ability to kill without night vision or scopes (what's up with that!) :(

I haven't seen the XB yet so I assume you will be going up aginst some trained troops so that would have to be taken into account.

One thing I don't think has been mentioned (sorry for repeating if so), but I would like to see fire damage, i.e. bullets kicking up debris around you and other places.

1. Less linear maps then the ones on the Xbox version, have them more open like GR1, so you have the options in which order and which way to complete your mission

2. Blood on the soldiers/enemies and blood splatters on rocks/walls/the ground...if the little kids/teens can't see blood on their Xbox version, then give it to us adults on the pc

3. Please no hollywood type voice acting and cut scenes for briefing and de-briefing, it just looks and sounds sad, bring back the old way of briefing and de-briefing it looks more clean cut and to the point, this isn't a drama movie it's a tactical shooter

4. No AI spawning out of thin air like on the xbox version, after i clear out an area that's exactly what i want it to be...CLEAR, i want to worry about doing recon and using strategy on my objectives, not running and gunning all the way through the whole mission

5. More then one squad to command like in GR1 (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie) I want to be able to give them waypoints and other assorted commands on the Reference Maps, so they can flank enemies or give suppressing fire to distract them while i come around to flank the enemy

6. Bring back the old interface such as being able to select soldier setup, select teams, all of this BEFORE the match/mission begins not like the xbox version where it throws you right in the game and you have to select your equipment while the mission or match is happening, and please have a much better looking briefing lobby for the teams where you can see who's talking and see all of the selections that are made on the server pretty much like the first GR

7. Don't have the AI swarm your spawn right off the bat during firerfights like on the xbox version, i thought i was supposed to go out and find them like on the first GR i thought i was supposed to be playing firefight not defend the base

8. Have unlockable soldiers, weapons, and maybe unlock addons to the guns, but not just that unlockable photoalbum in the xbox version

9. And none of this strafing sideways at 20mph like on the xbox version with full gear on and being able to shoot like rambo (Less Arcadey) if i wanted arcadey i'd play halo, i bought ghost recon because it's different from those games

10. Any and all modding tools you can legally give us on the games cd-rom

Lots of good suggestions so far, but here's my two-cents worth:

1. Definately bring back the respawn option from GR1. My friends and I like to be able to do a firefight or defend mission and just play it all the way through, no matter how many times we get killed. I know that's not very realistic, but it's a pain not having even the option in RB6.

2. More realistic enemy AI response - particularly to incoming fire. We should be able to pin an enemy down or drive them away with suppressing fire, and nothing bugged me more about GR1 than unloading 100 rounds from a SAW right at a guy and having him just stand there and fire back.

3. Let us pick up discarded weapons - even if we have to drop one of our own. There are too many other games that offer this, so I don't think it should be that hard to put in.

4. Keep the GR1 multiplayer interface - allow us to connect directly to an IP address, instead of having to log on to UBI's servers.

5. How about a little more realism in the physics - maybe let us shoot open a locked door, blow a hole in a wall to avoid going through a door, or shoot through wooden boxes?

Overall, GR1 was one of the best ever, and one of only 2 or 3 that I play. Here's hoping GR2 lives up!!

Here's a list a few things that I'd find a strong turn off:

· mongo tracers on everything

· dead beat AI

· 'screaming man' cover art

· hype about 'getting to know the ghosts'

While the last two aren't really game 'features' they're things that sort of highlight the Ubi thematic approch to GR2 XBox that really threw me...

i dont know, i find the "stay with one dude" thing pretty nice. i thought it was kinda like cheating in GR1, switching through your men. its like, your one guy, deal with it... i like it, make it stay.

blood, needs blood

better voice-overs

blood

weapon recoil

maby some guns n' roses somewhere in the game

THIS IS A BIG ONE> i want to be able to choose my team as i wish!!!

And maby some more specialist.

blood

those are the main things, but there are more. and it needs blood.

First of all, thanks to everyone who contributed to the GR2 Xbox -> GR2 PC wishlist. Although we had edit out a few inflammatory and off-topic comments here and there, the exercise has been generally successful.

There are a couple areas in the wishlist that are still a bit deficient IMHO:

1) We need more suggestions from people who run GR1 dedicated servers - what dedicated server features do you want to see for GR2?

2) Also, not many people mentioned what weapons/attachments they thought should have made it into GR2, but didn't appear in the Xbox version :gun:

Even if just the Xbox version weapons make it into the GR2 PC version, I'm sure RSE won't mind some further weapons suggestions for the GR2 expansion pack :rocket:

For example, I seem to recall that Hatchetforce mentioned that he's never seen the AN/PEQ2A sight modelled in any game before, although it is commonly used by spec ops operators for night ops.

Another example is the Javelin anti-armor missile

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/javelin/

So please post your suggestions in the pinned thread, and you can debate the suggestions in this forum.

It's difficult to suggest weaponry when you don't know what kind of game GR 2 is going to be on PC. The Xbox game is totally different from GR in structure and gameplay, it is all out combat, without the stealth element of GR. If the game is the same, then there is no need for suppressed weapons, except for recon mode. Then, I would suggest an M4SD, MP5DS and a silenced sniper rifle for recon and MP.

I would like to know if the devs take any of these ideas into consideration at all, otherwise what is the point of this exercise?

I don't want any xbox console left overs period, dot, point blank, the only thing i want from that version MAYBE is the graphics upgrade, but the rest of the mongo-ish game/gameplay can go back to xbox live, but even then the graphics were specifically made on and for the xbox graphics chip so it has shaders and textures made for the xbox (i've seen the nvidia dds textures and the xbox specific shaders) so it might be possible that people with real new vidcards might not be impressed like say compared to other games such as HalfLife2 or other new computer games, maybe that's what might be taking them a long time is just the porting from the damn console version, and probably why they don't want to say anything :( All i know is i'm just angry about not seeing anything good from the xbox version or anything period come from the horses mouth about the pc version, BUT on the other hand i'm getting a cpu and vidcard upgrade soon, and close combat is coming out soon and half life 2 looks pretty damn good with all there modding tools...it would kinda suck to say bye to what used to be an awesome series, but i'd rather move on and pay for something good then pay for and support something i can't stand

Command line dedicated server that runs as a service would be ideal.

Similar to Raven shield.

Also a dedicated server download.

Over at www.tacticalgamerz.com we plan on running a GR2 dedicated server(s) only if there is atleast command line. GUI dedicated servers are completely useless and crash far too often. And require VNC to remote on to the server to run the GUI and are insanely slow to manipulate.

That is the only reason we dont host GR1.

I would like to know if the devs take any of these ideas into consideration at all, otherwise what is the point of this exercise?

I've been following the development of the Rainbow and Ghost series since 1998, and have had the privilege of interviewing various RSE dev team members through the years. Unless there has been drastic changes in how they do things, you can bet your booties that the GR2 PC team is aware of the wishlist and they take our ideas into consideration.

So have no doubt RSE is aware of what we want. However, remember that "taking ideas into consideration" does not mean what you want in particular will make it into the final product ... what features make it into the game depends on many time/resource/business factors as discussed in other threads.

I'll repost Ubisoft's GR (ex)-community manager's statement over at the official GR2 PC forums

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=40...42&m=2341053942

I've always maintained that feedback and feature suggestions are always welcomed and encouraged. You have seen for yourself that the developers read these boards, so this is a way to communicate your wants and needs to them. The more constructive, the greater the chance of developers beign receptive to input and feedback.

However, we will rarely comment on suggestions as we don't want to get your hopes up that all of your input will be included in the game, but it will at least be listened-to.

Take a look at the original GR2 wishlist by ZJJ and you can see quite a few things that made it into the game:

http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/gr2-1.htm

- more realistic night vision

- climbing over small objects

- realistic structure damage

- medics

- laser a target and call in air-strikes

- combat roll

- customizable weapons loadouts

- pick up weapons of fallen comrades and enemies

Lots of Admin Ideas :-

The ability for the dedi server to request random screenshot/s from a player (kinda like PB) a small 400*300 screenie would be enough to spot DirectX Hacks,SIFF.

For this option to be left off by default, but can be turned on when an Admin suspects someone, also for it to request from a specific player on the server. This would require the server to log players joining.

An IP logger built in that logs a players name, with his IP/ISP/GUID and CD key details.TO make banning cheats/disruptive players on Dynamic IP's much eaiser. To ban by just one is pointless eg anyone can get a Key generator and create a new CD key, but to have the full range of details, makes admin much easier.

Some sort of packet detection, of NOP commands returned from cheats. I don't suggest an automated ban system, but a log file, that can draw attention to an Admin of possible cheats in use.We know the issues with PB, banning people using mods/skins etc.

Improved replays,REWIND button :), fix the offset, frame by frame mode.

I'd like to see some "user defined Zones" set aside in IGOR/StonED for .gtf files.

Alot of people hate Spawn raping, the ability to check Player Respawned, guy who shot him, remove his weapons as punishment.Invul time is useless as you can't shoot anyone, and most often you get shot when the time runs out. At least make the Respawned guy invincible, then anyone daft to enuf to spawn rape will get wasted.

More definable explosion types for projectiles/Mines/claymores/frags. lauchable smoke grenades (qob doesn't support effect helper points).

Looking forward to the XM29 dial in range, one thing i couldn't do in my xm29 mod.

An option in the gun editor to show Range on high tech scoped weapons XM29/XM8/ certain Sniper scopes etc.

Tank busting Sniper rifles, placeable anti vehicle mines.Flashbangs that fog out the screen of any player in a certain range.

A suggestion, as an .RSB file can use Alpha channels to set surface texture ie in a texture that has metal and wooden objects. To be able to set an Alpha channel that is Gunshot or Grenade tranparent. Thus making a texture you can shoot through where you can see through, and not where you can't.

FYI - I am going to work on cleaning up this thread and remove all the off topic discussions. The GR2 wishlist thread worked well where people posted what they wanted to see in the PC version without the chatter.

I'm going to do the same here. This thread will be for what you don't want to see in the PC version. As the wishlist thread, this one will be aggressively moderated and chatter will be deleted, repetitious requests will also be deleted.

This is in an attempt to make a clean list that is an easy reference for the devs.

Any questions contact me.

Thanks

Edit: As stated above, I went through and removed a lot of posts that didn't stay on topic. From this point forth, I suggest that this topic be for listing what you don't want to see in the PC version of GR2. This thread will be heavily monitored.

1. Realistic stopping power.

All rifles have the exact same stopping power as of this writing in the x-box version! Larger calibers should be getting more one shot kills. Pistols should have much better stopping power at short ranges, and even worse stopping power at long range.

2. Realistic ballistics. Bullet drop and wind drift.

You would need a wind meter like in golf games. I know I will never see this wish incorperated in the game, but you never know. The meter should show wind direction and strength, with gusts. You would have to sight in your rifle at the range.

3. Realistic depth perception.

Objects in the game look much farther away than they really are.

Also, you rarely can see and shoot anything beyond 200 meters.

200 meters is medium range in the real world for most assault rifles, and short range for a most sniper rifles. We should be able to see out to at least 500 meters on most maps. Keep some maps foggy though. For people who have older video cards, an option to set the fog distance would be great!!!

4. A.I. enemies swarm on you, and see you through cover too easily in the x-box version. They find you even when you just call in an air strike and never fire a shot yourself!!!! They can see in the dark like they have N.V.G.

Bring back stealth, and slow down the game play. Make sure tracers and muzzle-flash are accurate and realistic for each weapon.

5. Cheaters ruined Ghost recon 1 for me, please make it harder to tamper with GR 2 files. GR 2 for x-box has cheat codes built in, wont this make hacking the game easier??? Punk buster has its problems, so come up with something better please!

6. Ghille suits for snipers! And a camo covered sniper rifle.

7. The game should remember what your default weapon is for each map.

8. Customizing your camo clothing, scope, bi-pod, and weapons etc... by using a point system to purchase them would be fantastic. You could have them pre-set for each map ahead of time!

9. Able to block out lone wolf weapons and rocket launchers online, but still allow hand grenades for everyone, and grenade launchers used by grenadiers!!! The X-box version blocks all explosives, or allows all explosives. Its hard to find a server that allows grenades!!!!!!!

10. Instead of using pips, have actual recoil effects.

After shooting, your crosshairs should move off of your original aiming point.

The worse the recoil, the farther the crosshairs should jump up off of your original aiming point. Also, after shooting, the view through your scope should be temporarily blurred. How long it's blurred depends on the amount of recoil.

11. I would love to have a variable scope. In the real world I use a 6.5x - 20x variable powered scope. I would love to use this scope on a sniper rifle in GR2.

A 5x-15x variable, or 5x-20x variable would be better though, with 3 settings you can actually use though,..... 5x, 10x, and 15x or 5x, 10x, and 20x respectively, if you cant make them actually zoom in and out 1x at a time that is!!!!! The scroll wheel on the mouse is perfect for zooming in and out.

12. Give us the option to turn on/off blood and gore. Or just give us the blood and gore!

13. A friend of mine says he would love to have smoke grenades, Its not a big deal to me though.

14. Able to choose your crosshairs type. Not a big deal, but the color and type would be nice to be customized by the player.

15. A pistol with a 2x scope.

16. More non-linear maps. Maps like the old Fort Drum "Wilderness map", and the "Farm map" were great. GR2 for x-box has some great maps I love, but the run and gunners like to play 5 minute games on maps I hate, like "Sand mine", "Train Station", and the very linear maps "Quarry" and "Pagoda".

I love the GR2 "Lost convoy", "Railway", and "Training" maps.

17. GR2 for x-box allows respawns on or off only. You should be able to select exactly how many respawns are available, like you could in GR1. Also, you should be able to play longer than a 25 minute time limit. My most fond memories of GR1 were playing 1 hour matches during 10 on 10 team league play with no respawns!!!!!

18. Bring back sensors, but they should be able to be turned off like lone wolf weapons. Instead of showing you exactly on the map where the enemy is, make sensors use the existing radar thats already in GR2 instead. This radar tells you the direction and roughly how far away the enemy is, instead of exactly where he is on the command map like GR1 did. This will tone down the effectiveness of sensors a bit.

19. The Ghosts do well at long range but at short range they need to be better. For instance, I could have a grenade in my hand and an enemy solder can walk right in the middle of the four of us and none of the ghosts will shoot him. Most of the time many seconds go before someone, including the enemy, shoots! Fix this please.

The ghosts are suppose to be elite soldiers but you would never know it, especially at close range.

20. Bring back the original threat indicator and the sound of the enemy's footsteps.
