Whisper_44
Choppers = Helos if that was a serious question Hoak and I think most of the folks here at gr.net would pay for another expansion..
Hoak
LOL DOH! I thought it was some editing jargon I did not know about that had to do with some 3D Max issue or somehting. As Ubi seems to be a rather short sighted bottom line company it seems unlikely that they will do anything for free, i.e. release 'end of life' source or support kit like id Software and others; they just don't understand or appreciate the benefits of good PR and attracting fans that adore the company and the product. But I wonder what it would take to interest them in offing another expansion with updates...
BlkScorp
you know i sit and play games like BF 1942 DC and FC and the likes. BUT i always come back to GR. After 5 years of playing i can honestly say that with a few changes i would be happy to play another 5 years. I get bored playing the same maps, maybe make it easier to mod maps, missions are easy enoough now. just add a few things, such as the ability for helos. This game still holds ALOT of peoples attention and if devs were to look around they would see that we(meaning GR HARDCORE GAMMERS) don't need a NEW GR but an uptodate one. KRP 56
I get bored playing the same maps, maybe make it easier to mod maps, missions are easy enoough now. ← GR has a lot of quality mod maps to play on. If you make map modding to easy you might end up with hundreds of mod maps like RVS has of which very few are worth downloading and installing. Hoak
KRP 56 you post a lot that I agree with on these forums, what do you think of the idea(s) in the topic post?
KRP 56
KRP 56 you post a lot that I agree with on these forums, what do you think of the idea(s) in the topic post. ← The bean counters at UBI/RSE would more than likely never allow money to be spent adding to or fixing anything related to GR/DS/IT. The only thing I remember them doing is package, repackage and combine their various games to try and sell a few more copies. I feel they could still reap the benefits of GR with another expansion pack that also included an expanded Igor and mod support, bug fixes (shadow bug is the only one I really have a problem with) and the integration of SOAF's which I feel could add all kinds of interesting possibilities to GR. Heck if they even had an expansion pack with just a large campaign set on the GR/DS/IT maps with the extras mentioned above I'd pay for it. Here's my end of life GR plan. 1. Upgrade all the GR/DS/IT maps to GR2 graphic levels. 2. Make Igor one powerful and complete mod tool. 3. Sell as one game with a massive new campaign that includes air transport from Russia to Africa to Cuba and a few other countries where you stop for refueling and get called out for a mission or skirmish of course. Wishful thinking for something that will never happen but after seeing the XBOX version of GR2 I'd rather pay $100 for something along those lines than pay $50 for a GR2 that's takes the planning, thinking, tension etc. out of the game and replaces it with in your face linear arcade action battles that are only worth playing a time or two. Hoak
Everyone I have talked to that even remotely likes Ghost Recon, many of whom have seen and played GR2 on the XBox or PS2 (and like it) say the same thing i.e. they would love another Update/Expansion from Ubi/RSE/Ubi/Ubi/Ubi and could easily be separated from their money. I personally do think it has to be a "breakthrough" of a released either but just a few minor fixes, updates, and an expansion that doesn't even have to be the scale of Island Thunder or Desert Siege. Or just something that was an Update, with fixes, expanded tools, and some attention to cosmetic issues like the HUD and other things that can't be properly modded for no sane reason, and perhaps a few maps they have sitting on the shelf -- and let the thing go for free. Either way it could go MILES to hiking back up the road from the valley of ill will, could most likely easily be released well before GR2 to help placate some justifiably ruffled Clancy Fan Feathers before the 'event', and put some more respectable closure on what may be a 'One Of A Kind' game for a long long time. Hoak
A sort of related question: 'How much would you be willing to pay (in U.S. $) for a DVD (or set of CD's) that compiled and organized all Ghost Recon mods and maps, unified their installers, and to some extent sorted out which mods were compatable with each other?' Realizing all the content is free, you're only paying for media and the trouble someone would take to put all this together in a functional manner that gave you screen-shots of maps and mods, well written short descriptions, urser ratings where available etc.. A sort of encyclopedia of Ghost Recont Freelance Content... I think I'd shell out $20 for something like this, maybe even a little more just to know I have everything, and can find it easily... How about you guys?
X5-176
Upgraded 3dsmax plugins with some built in map making tools and plugins for GMax if possible, it would be pretty kick ass to have some stuff from IGOR somewhat integrated with 3dsmax or GMax so we can do stuff like place lights anywhere on the fly or say make the ground dark on the fly, maybe even build the map right from 3dsmax so we can put it right in the game to test, rather then having to go back and forth between programs

How about you guys? ← Only problem with this is that, What about Character modding? We only have 3 CHR Sets for the ghosts to use, so certainly, CHR mods are very limited. Also, say that this does happen, what if GuyX's mod accidently gets overlooked and isn't on the mod disk? What will he think?
