H&D2 Sabre Squadron

Amazing game!! The second mission in Sicily can be particularly hard if you don't know what you're doing.... It took me about 2 hours trying and trying again to complete that mission. In the end I just took the whole squad, ran all the way to the bottom of the bridge, disarmed the explosives at the bottom of the bridge. Then I quickly legged it along the valley underneath the bridge, all the way up to the other side of the bridge where the Germans are holding out. Bam bam, wax a few Jerries, leg it out to the right to outflank them, split the squad down in two fire teams each time has one man with a bazooka. 2 German tanks arrive from the left, I knew their path (having played the mission so many times already but so far being unsuccessful). One tank comes around the back of the house where one fire team is waiting....broken down wall....bring up sights on bazooka and get ready to fire....tanks draws near.... BAM!! No more German tank. I move the other fire team around to blow up the other tank, easy.... I knew where it was, difficult to hit it from my position, it would have seen me and blew me up....so I leans out around the corner and fired with the bazooka - second tank down. Then another arrives, supported by like 20 German infantry, so I switch back to my first fire team, tank comes around of the building, I fire the bazooka out of the doorway and my rocket hits the side of the tank destroying it. Then I move both fire teams to finish of the remain infantry....mission complete. Easy when you know how.

The second mission in Champagny is really difficult too, need synchronised attacks on that one, no Germans can escape....the buggers almost get away in a motorbike/sidecar, but I took a potshot with the Enfield rifle and....woot!! Amazing shot - very long distance, wasn't even the sniper variant of the Enfield but the bullet hit the driver square in the middle of the back of his head!! Haha!! Then I kill the passenger before he had chance to get away. All the while though, you need to have another fireteam positioned guarding the road at the other side of the farmhouse - when the Germans know you are there, they WILL flee, but none are allowed to escape. Some try to get out through the front door too. They all flee at the same time!!

I'll get some screenshots I think....

I might try out the new co-op. Anyone up for it?

I like the African mission where you are going through the valley (mission 2 I think)....the whole German army is advancing onto your position from behind, plus there's Germans all over the valley....I was doing that mission.... I was driving the jeep wrecklessly, resulting in the jeep tipping on its side!! So I had to get out and continue on foot. Was actually alot easier to do on foot. By which time I was about halfway through the vally, could see some of the flak truck thingy's, but a German tank was coming up behind me....so I took him out, hotwired a flak truck thingy and continued the mission with that!!

Nice new stationary weapons in SQ too.... PAK30 kicks ass...just try the Ardennes objectives multiplayer map and select to be a German soldier....you start in front of three artillery cannons, use one them (or all of them in turn for that matter)....it's like, you fire it, the camera follows the shell!! Incoming!!

WOW! this game is amazing. I just played through the demo and it rocked. It was pretty damn hard too. (and this was on easy!). Anyway, the game rocked. The only thing that wasn't so great was the command system. That'll take some getting used to.

For GR fans, H&D2 would be a good game i think. i'm definitely gonna go out and buy it. :D

Also, go check all the CoD vs H&D2 style threads - you'll see I have not called anyone an idiot or whatever for playing CoD. Instead, I've just stated why H&D2 is better than CoD (jeez, they didn't even get the weapons or uniforms correct in CoD)

The new MAS MLE rifle (used by French resistance in WW2) in Sabre Squadron looks cartoony if you put the game into first person view....all the other rifles look good in first person view though. And yes, the game is tough. I lost a man on the first mision! I don't normally loose men....when I do loose a man, I restart the whole mission again and change my tactics. I had got so far on mission one before loosing the first man though, so I couldn't be bothered to go back and restart the whole mission. And the first mission in Sicily.... damn, you need to change your tactics greatly when theGerman tanks show up - they have a very good field of view from their position. To get the first one, I had to like crawl out from the underground part linking the hilltop coastal artillery bunkers, all the way round to the side of the tank. I was quite far away when I fired the bazooka - rocket just hit and blew up the tank. Destroying the second tank so I could get to extraction without being blown up was alot harder..... I had to crawl down by where one of the PAK 30's are. When I got there, I had to kneel to be able to hit the tank (couldn't see it from prone - too much vegetation, lol). But kneeling meant the tank would be able to see me and kill me! So I had to be quick. I fired at the tank just as the turret was turning around to face my position! Bang! Tank #2 destroyed!
