[WOLF]Lizard
I still enjoy the missions. I'm not into the mods, never liked em. I like the "out of the box" feel. But what really brought me to GR and Keeps me comming back is the Multi Player. Theres nothing better in the online gaming community Than a well communicated (teamspeak), Well executed, successful attack on a live enemy in Ghost Recon. Or just plain Owning a bunch of guys in a good solo game. I do wander off periodically to other games but this is the one that keeps me comming back. Goettschwan
It is indeed the only game i have found yet excluding the Emptying Magazine into head to no result effect (Hello FarCry, MoH, CoD etc.etc.), exluding the stupid armorMedpack100%Healthmeter routine, and letting you choose your approach to the target or goal yourself. I have never played MP, i think i will not in the near future, but there are these tons of mod i still have to play until GR2 ...
lancerbadge
Too good a game and too many mods to try to stay away for long. Hard not to fire a few slugs at least once a week.

RAbbi_74
I am SO behind the times here. I had GR and GR:DS on the laptop forever. It could barely support playing DFLW online, much less GR. So here I finally go getting a new desktop and FINALLY installing GR on it, and I discover how far behind I am. First was the V1.3 and 1.4 patches. Then I found the COOLEST stuff ever, the M4 Armoury and 7.62 MODs. I just have one little obstacle in the path to online bliss, that being that I do NOT have GR:IT. Most of the online co-op games I try to join require IT. But I absolutely adore the relative realism of it, the thrill of the hunt (yeah, I'm almost exclusively a sniper), the fairly accurate languages of the enemy, blood, death, explosive blow-stuff-up stuff and more. MODs rock, but online co-op play is perhaps the best thing since sliced bread. I loved R6:RS online, and GR is even better than that for us sniper folk... Merry Chanukah or something ... nuttyknatty
I've only had a pc since Jan 05 and really only bought it so the kids could use the internet. Having a limited budget, I purchased a low spec machine and didn't envisage playing many games on the machine. Then purely by chance I came across GR for £1 at a school fete (hadn't heard of it before). A friend had championed the wonderfullness of online gaming - he's a halflife addict! - and, although I had the inevitable teething problems at first, once I'd tasted online gaming, I was hooked! I like GR because................. Playing online is brilliant! I've had evenings where I've just been following someone around as they teach me how to play! Games can be frantic and fast or slow and stealthy. It's great to chat before, during, and after the games. Unfortunately, GR is the only online game I've played much of (I've just installed America's Army, played a little of Quake, and seen a demo of Half-Life) but I like the realism, the pace, and the 'feel' of GR. I only hope that people don't stop playing it once the new version comes out!
Bravo Leader
I've played most MP games and GR shoots through the roof with its hardcore online gameing and sweet missions!
Rebar
After trying all the new games, I always come back to GR. Why? Because GR gets it "right" in so many areas, while these newer games get even the simplest things wrong.
chiles4
I have to admit that, by far, the best co-op gameplay I've ever experienced was in VietCong. And that was mostly as a result of the excellent enemy AI and other gameplay strengths. But that game was made several years after GR. The VietCong co-op community faded and I dropped VC for SWAT 4. But I've had my eyes constantly open for good co-op combat games. The first write-ups of GR2 were disappointing and it never came to PC anyway. I'm guessing that I won't be playing GRAW either. GR was so great that it spoiled me. I enjoyed RvS but it wasn't the classic that GR was. Aside from VietCong, nothing really measured up to GR. And I didn't care for CoD at all. Alot of the big titles like MOHAA and Battlefield 1942 and BFV either had no co-op or it sucked - from what I heard. Being done with VC and tired of waiting for something to come along, I just reloaded GR Gold Edition. I'm now loading up LAN co-op games by myself trying to determine how to play GR well given all I've learned playing tactical shooters over the years. I'm trying to tone down the difficulty as getting killed by bots with superhuman accuracy and reflexes gets old. But nothing I've tried really affects this. Just got to get used to it again, I guess. Taking into consideration that newer games have huge advantages over older ones, I'd have to say that GR was one of the best games ever made. I look forward to getting back into some co-op action. Another perk is cranking up every graphic option possible and still averaging about 100 fps! Edited August 16, 2005 by chiles4
MCarr
Chiles4, you sound like me, I just got back into it to for very similar reasons and I am looking for some more great COOP play as well. I have a highend rig and it really is nice to crank it all up and play, makes a lot of difference. I was wondering about Mods, are there new ones being developed still or has that stopped all together. I remember d/l some great ones back in the day and seeing as I have been out of it for awhile, wasn't sure what the latest and greatest are. Plus I do 3D modeling for MSFS as well as some other games and wondered if it could be applied here also, possibly GRAW?
Buehgler_AS
There are still a number of active groups playing exclusivly co-op or mostly co-op. AlphaSquad (of which I am a member) continues to update our weapons/map/mission mod that is geared toward co-op play. You will find our server full most evenings (Eastern time -- server IP is 204.11.239.180 TS is 204.11.239.165, you will find PW for the servers along with rules and pointers to teh AS Mod in our forums at http://www.alphasquad.net ). ETF plays almost exclusivly co-op ( http://www.etf-clan.org ). Phoenix solders (PXS) runs a large selection of mods and plays almost all co-op on their server ( http://www.phoenixsoldier.com/ ). Special detachment ( http://www.specialdetachment.org ) is just wrapping up thier 2005 co-op tourney over this weekend. There were 24 teams that entered. You will also find (via ASE or xfire) a number of servers running slightly more run-and-gun co-op games with respawns and the like. So I think it is safe to say that if you really want to play some reasonably well coordinated co-op GR, there are quite a few options out there for you. chiles4
MCarr, nice sig...the guy on the left looks a bit like Hornster, the M60 dude from VietCong. Actually, I have to take back my comment about GRAW. If the co-op is good (I assume it will have co-op), I'll give it a shot. I'm just not a vehicle, air strike, or tech gadget kind of "soldier". Speaking of mods, I'm amazed I didn't delete all my old GR mods from my HDD. I just burned a gig of them to a DVD. Yeah, the co-op in GR is amazing. MCarr
Thanks bro, put the sig together rather quickly, LOL. Funny, I never was to much of a vehicle, air, tech kind of guy, probably because most of the shooters I played didn't really support them well. I got BF2 a few weeks ago and while it looks great and the vehicles are sweet, the gameplay is pretty buggy in SP, haven't tried MP yet, the forums are full of idiots, so I decided to wait. Lucky you on the mods, I had some great ones when I used to play, but I have built 4 PCs since then, so I out looking and d/ling now, LOL. Once I get setup, if you wanna do some COOP drop me a PM. Buehgler_AS, thanks for the links, off to check them out. Michael
squid01
I play not because of MP but because it is a cool game to begin with and the community support and Mod's make it a world class game. If GR3 is have as good it'll be spectacular. (Did I spell that right) I only play PC, not any of the consoles. Anyway, the community is top notch and the game is still capable of killing me after 2+ years of playing. Call of Duty can't, Battlefield 1942 can't, even with some of the (not so good) mods for those games. Jay
talib_killa34
I'm one of the mind- "If I enjoy the game, I will play it!" That goes for BF:1942, Desert Combat, Vietcong, Delta Force (pick one), R6, Joint Ops, America's Army, Battlefront, Call of Duty, etc. (If you have the HD space, sure why not??) I play better at GR MP better than other MP games so I am biased, plus it just LOOKS right! The chr animations are better than 90% of the so called "better" newer games out there. Mods galore, gotta love that. Single Player, nowadays, cannot keep a newer game fresh for long but GR still has a great and involving SP mode that NO-ONE can touch! Granted my 3 year old PC is chuggin along with a new vid-card that can somehow play BF:2 at High, yes I am currently playing that game more now....BUT GR will remain on my PC and will remain in my heart and mind as my #1 game for all time! That's why I play still....
ROCO*AFZ*
Nothing still surpasses GR in the sheer aspect of team interaction in MP games. Each member can pick his way through covering the others. It can be semi run and gun, but even with that without tatics you will die. The sheer frustration of not seeing your enemy as they kill you (probably the most addictive part as it pulled me in the 1st time i played it. I was determined to spot them)
