Some images appear fuzzy or incomplete!

Recommended Posts

In the last week or two, when I click on an image in here eg. the GR2 line-up on the home page appears fuzzy. Today, it appeared incomplete. A few posted images in the forums are appearing fuzzy too. Everytime, I click on refresh, but it doesn't improve the image.

Any ideas?

I had this happen before.  Go in and clear your cache.  It's probably cached a picture incorrectly.  Now reload gr.net and it should reload the pictures.  HTH :)

Thanks for the advice ff. I did what you advised, but it's not altered anything :(

Any more suggestions?

It sounds as though the picture isn't fully downloaded at your end. Right click the image. Is the Show Picture option available to select?

No it's not. I've been able to click on screenshots ok, but maybe my PC isn't coping with the resolution of the group shots!

This is a wierd one! Any chance of posting a screenshot of the issue?

Rather than do that, I think it's the fact that my PC can't cope with large images, coz the 'USMC 229th Birthday' thread image appears in full, although a little fuzzy.

I know my comp's long overdue for a replacement, but this is really annoying. As I said, regular sized images appear fine, but hi-res' and huge 'now' seem out of the question :wall:

I think blistr is right on the money with this issue.

DS: I'm guessing it may be a problem with how your browser is caching the pictures. Here's a few things to try:

1) Try right-clicking on a blurry high res pic and chose "Save Picture As" and download the file onto your desktop. Open up the pic in Windows Picture Viewer and see if it looks normal

2) Go to the tool bar in IE and pick Tools-> Internet Options -> Settings ... and then tell us how big the size of your Temporary Internet Files folder is. I would suggest you expand it to 256MB

3) Try a different browser like FireFox v1.0. See if you still have the blurry picture problem with that browser. If you don't, then it's just an IE problem.

Let us know how it goes

Well, I tried these and nothing's changed. This is what I'm getting for hi-res or large images. As I said, it's only something that's just started;

What kind of connection do you have? Dial-up or broadband (DSL/Cable)?

56k all the way...........errrrrrr.....baby :wall:

Hmmm ... I wonder if it's your modem or your ISP then ... something is cutting off the image from downloading fully.

Any chance you got an old modem (even a 33.6) around to test if it's a modem problem?

Also give FireFox a try and let us know what happens. It's amazingly only 4.7MB.

Hmmm....now you mention it.....AOL...IME.....has conflicts! I use it because my wife is used to it and well.......that's it really. I've become to dislike it because, although it looks pretty, there's too many bells and whistles that I don't use and when opening it up, my HD sounds as though it's 'flushing' forever.
