WP33 0
Respectful hellos... Just curious whether the M468 you were creating will ever see the light of day. I'd really like to see 'er in a suppressed version with an ACOG, but just my two cents. Just been looking forward to it for a long while, and yours was quite praiseworthy. Thanks in advance. Militiaman 0
I would love to have an awesome M-468 rifle to use for Ghost Recon too. The 6.8 x 43 round is a great rifle round for infantry. It's too bad the military doesn't leave the 7.62 x 51 and 5.56 x 45 round for the 6.8 millimeter. Snipers could even use use the 6.8 x 43 since it retains good stopping power out to about 500 meters. The M-16A2 only has good stopping power out to around 375. You get 28 rounds of ammo per magazine with the 6.8 x 43 too, so the exchange of power for a few rounds less of ammunition is not bad. (Actually about 25 rounds per magazine for 6.8 x 43. An experienced shooter knows that 5.56 x 45 30 round M-16 magazines should not be loaded past 27 rounds because it puts too much pressure on the magazine spring.) (14.5 inch barrels are *evil* lol) 375 yards may be a little optimistic on human targets, even with the 77 grain Sierra bullets and the slower rifling of the SPRs in the field. This has been proven so far in Afghanistan and Iraq (though I think it's been proven for a long time before that). The six-eight is a great middle ground. But of course, you can mod any gun to any usage you want in Ghost... I'm a huge stickler for authenticity and have redone all of the guns in the game to reflect the actual limitations each cartridge and weapon has. I've "fudged" some 6.8s from other guns for my own use, but the model makes things so much nicer...

I'm okay with Photoshop and making skins for existing models, but I'm crap with 3dsm, so it's no use me trying to work with a bare model. I'm sure I'll find out if I PM, so thanks again. Militiaman 0
You are right on the range of the M-16A2. The 20 inch barrel probably makes the good effective range on the 55 grain 5.56 round about 200 meters. The M-4 has good stopping power out to about only 100 meters because it only has a 14.5 inch barrel. M-4 is a good close quarters weapon but it doesn't reach out and crush. I've "fudged" some 6.8s from other guns for my own use, but the model makes things so much nicer... ← ← Well, I've kind of played around with armor levels in the combat model and the power of various weapons to kind of dial in the appropriate amount of damage done (at least in my opinion) and have reached a rather happy place where it may take several shots with an M4 in the torso at 150 yards to bring down an opponent and it won't defeat the heaviest armor at that range, but the 7.62 will. I have pretty much figured the 6.8 to be somewhat about halfway between the 5.56 and the 7.62 in power and lethality (of course one has to take into account many variables, including bullet type and velocity, barrel length, etc.), and I think I've kind of improved the combat aspect a bit. Many folks had the 5.56 way too powerful, causing deaths with a foot or lower leg shot at 100 yards, but playing with the combat model and power of the weapons has yielded acceptable results in this. At this moment, I have the range for full M16s at about 300 and the M4s at about 150ish meters. Seems to work for me. Excuse the run-on sentences above. lol Edited October 28, 2004 by WP33
TRC 0
Cobra, just chiming in on interest in mini mod should Mac okay it. Nice model. Do you folks ever sleep over at DTD?

Whisper_44 0
Mac did finish the model. ......I will release a mini mod. ← Just spoke to Mac, he's good with the release of the Mini Mod - Go For it Cobra @ TRC - as far as sleeping at DTD, occasionally we sleep, although Cobra and his textures are SICK Another from the Warden Mac gun shop Robinson Arms SCAR applicant: Added in EDIT - FN Sniper of some sort @ SC - I'm not sure where MAUTi is with our forums either, the main server was hacked, everything was really messed up, I know he's working hard though. Keep your fingers crossed. Edited October 28, 2004 by Whisper_44
Suicide Commando 0
Wow, that Rob Arms SCAR is sweet. Mac's really been outdoing himself on his latest models.
jay316 0
that SCAR is pretty sweet, looking forward to the mini mod with the 6.8.
WP33 0
Hey, that FN is pretty tight looking. You know, looking at that Robinson, I think I'd like to see an M96 with a suppressor as well. I dug the M96 DTD had in NED and just wished it came suppressed. <hint dropped>

Although I dont play GR much anymore, I do still model for it, I guess out of habbit, lol. I have nothing to work on, so Im bored On the FN, I tried to make the texture look somewhat worn and used, I am not the texture artist Coco is as you can tell, but its coming along. Enjoy the guns and I have no problem releasing the other two as well, if cobra wants to package them. Later guys......

Cobra6 0
Does anyone want to do the .gun file with all of the appropriate settings for the 6.8mm? you can just post it here and I will add it to the .gun file, or if you do not want to wait and don't care how it shoots I can post the mini mod here tonight. WP33 0
Oh, just got the M4/M203 and M16 sniper mini mods Cobra did. Very cool stuff and I'd recommend them to all here. Too bad more guys don't do full length M16s in various configurations. I've always been interested in seeing someone do an M16A4 with the full length SIR and a nice optic, but, unfortunately there has always been more focus on the M4s. Alternately, talking about the M4, it'd be nice to see something like Rock River's and Armalite's "mid-length" carbine with the SIR. Just wishing out loud.
WP33 0
I have my own combat model, so posting my stats for 6.8 would be kind of useless for others. I'd like to be able to check the gun out tonight! Definitely. You have it in a suppressed form as well, or just unsuppressed?
