El_Nino
Hey gents, I'm finally about done with the 1985 Campaign. Still can't get over all the content in this game. I'm almost done with the 1985 campaign and still have the Gold campaigns and Resistance to go! For those of you who haven't tried it yet, if you can manage to get past those first few dorky scripted missions there is some outstanding solo play and some really tough missions. Great fun when there's no one around on the dedi (all too often given my time zone). The Guardian Mission (#21) still stands out in my mind as one of the toughest but most fun. I just recently finished the mission in which you are stranded alone in the middle of Kolgujev in the middle of the night with no map, compass, gps or night vision and you have to navigate your way to friendly territory using the stars. The consellations in the night sky are accurately modeled and you have to figure out which way is south by finding the Big Dipper and the North Star. Too much! Hope to see you all around again soon. 2nd Ranger
I've finished 1985 and Red hammer, but I got stuck in the middle of Res because of a scripting bug, so I gave up on that.

AUS_Viper
original was awsome .... loved it all. resistance i couldnt get into as much was good thoe from what iv seen ← Resistance was the best of all as it added the element of having to stockpile weapons and ammo from each mission before you started the next. If you found yourself up against a mission that required a Dragunov and you didn't have one, chances are the mission before you didn't complete correctly. 2nd Ranger
Yeah, that was cool. Also, I believe you only had a limited number of troops available to you. If one guy dies, that's one less guy for the next mission, etc. Plus, Nogova looks so much better than the first three islands.
TeXaN
Loved the OFP campaigns . Took me forever to finish the first one then i did the red hammer campaign and loved it . My favorite missions would have the be the one where you lead the attack on the airfield and just seeing your squad mates around you running and then seeing the Helichoppers flying overhead shooting god that was just too cool Was working on the Red Hammer campaign but havnt finished it yet maybe one of these days ill get to it
El_Nino
Well. I finished both the 1985 and the Red Hammer campaigns a while back. Last night after no one accepted my invitation to join me on the server I started the Resistance Campaign. That first 40 minute cinematic introduction was beautiful and brilliant. Can't wait to complete this one.

MarkVanDamme
the 1985 Campaign 1985? Great Scott!
Goettschwan
Me personally i am right inside (or rather at the end) of the 1985 Campaign. I bought the game on occasion , and what has been called "amazing solo play" combined with the scale of this game (the island sizes, command structures etc.etC.) have gotten me hooked to a point where i uninstalled GR. Its just... amazing.

If the intro to the Resistance campaign is any indication of things to come, it should be quite good. Although the Red Hammer campaign had a few good missions, it simply didn't have the coherence as a campaign that the 1985 one did. As for the glitch in Resistance, anyone know which mission it is? Perhaps I could unpbo it, fix it, re-pbo it and start from the beginning. el
2nd Ranger
The bug occurs during a mission in which you must first clear a small town, then move to capture an enemy fort. You have friendly armor helping you. There's supposed to be a trigger that sends enemy armour to your position, but it never goes off for me, so the tanks just sit there. If you want, you can go and destroy them, but I never managed it with just a BMP on hand. Forget the name of the mission, but you'll know it when you see it. Sup
Resistance is amazing, though. Once you get the first 'destroy the convoy' mission, and start thinking not about how to destroy it, but the most ammo conservative way to steal everything there... Then it gets great. Best mission, though, is one where you clear an enemy town... And then stealthily crush a well defended base.... Only to be attacked by tanks. And after you defeat them... Strafed by helicopters, and sent scrambling a very long distance on foot.
2nd Ranger
Resistance is indeed the best. It feels alot more cinematic than the previous two, but is just as challenging. I love stealing stuff from the Russians, like the tank depot you hit in one of the missions. The only thing missing from that was some banjo getaway music as you trundle off into the sunset. It was more of 'drive as fast as you can off into the sunset as Russian reinforcements butcher your squad and ruin your tanks.'
2nd Ranger
The thing that hampers missions like that is the AI. They don't move fast enough to keep up with you when you are driving vehicles. Either that or the commands you are giving in a life-death situation aren't being relayed fast enough because you have to wait for your voice to come through, then their reply. Also with missions like the convoy ambush - I hate them in SP. I don't trust AI with rockets.
Sup
The convoy ambush works great if you take the RPG up on the far ridge, with an AI or two to carry ammo/ protect you. Then put the rest of the team in bushes, and wait for the convoy to get close. What I really hated were the tank missions. The AI was awful in them. 2nd Ranger
Yes, I never liked tank missions anyway, but I found myself straining to kill all the enemy tanks before they took out my idiot counterparts.

Goettschwan
if you are talking of the convoi mission after blowing up the bridge, well, i just "satcheled" the whole place. Works out pretty nice. Sometimes the friendly AI is not up to par, especially when its "go to" or "mount" time. Takes ages for them to go over X Waypoints to finally mount something, but i think its related to the setting in Combat mode, i.e. in Danger mode they take loads of turns instead of going straight. But i never had the problem to have to protect the AI, well, if i use enough "stay behind" that is.
