Worth the cash with GR2 coming out?

Recommended Posts

This Thread Answers that well and there are about another 50 Questions like this one...

As far as what changes as opposed to OFP with good add ons. Realism AI is much more realistic, add ons official and Un official are all extremely detailed and high quality- just look at screenies...

Support- heaps of support for those that purchase it from Fourms, to free add ons. Strong community- experienced OFP and GR modders etc....I'm sure if you guys read through all the threads you'd have a pretty good diea of what to expect.

I'd like to throw in my two cents. Whether or not the game is worth it, is really up to the purchaser. Personally, I haven't seen very much at all that will make me want to buy GR2 or any other game. With Kegetys's dxdll addon, VBS1 suddenly has amazing effects like full-screen blur (a la Raven Shield) , amazing new NVG effects, reflective water, etc. I've stood near the ocean looking at the sunrise and just marvelled, because I've never seen anything like VBS1 before. For me, it's worth it, because in addition to the eye candy, VBS1 allows me to do things that video games don't.

Let's explore VBS1's downside though: CQB stinks, and very much so. The simulator's engine is made for vast (and I mean vast) outdoor environments. There are some places where you can engage in CQB, but it's definitely VBS1's weak point. I hope that is addressed in the future.

Even so, VBS1 is still worth the money to me. The quality and detail of the landscape, vehicles, characters, and weapons, are just unbelievable. Earl's weapons are the best I've ever seen, bar none. Seventh's SOF guys are unique and extremely detailed. I seriously doubt that GR2 will give VBS1 a run for its money in that department, or any other for that matter.

Anyway, as for the rest of the issue, I'll echo Gordo - there are already answers to most questions here. :)
