British Arctic Warfare mod

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm working on a customized snow/arctic version of the classic 22nd SAS mod (All characters with Arctic skins, new faces etc added from C$K, new specialists(?)) and am hoping to add some Bergans (British rucksacks) as attachments. Is this possible and does anyone have one to donate (or anything else that might be useful?)

This mod was originally intended to be just for my personal use but I'm so pleased with it I'd be happy to release it (though only if I can get permission from all concerned) - Although nothing in it is new, it wll be the first stand-alone UK Arctic mod that can be used with Op. Frostbite and the snow maps/missions from Wolfsong's Swedish Force. It would be nice to have some feedback about this as I don't want to waste the time of the original modders with permission requests unless the mod wanted.

I'll try to send some screenshots as soon as I am able.

Cheers

Hi,

* Chems-I have the British Infantry mod-it's great, an exceptional piece of modding except that I can't get the specialists to work with the snow maps either in the campaign or the quick mission, nor do they work with Op. Frostbite or the Swedish Force mod. The whole specialist list just comes up blank though they do appear on every other map. I asked for help/advice on this in a different thread.

The mod I'm working on is a straightforward skin/weapon mod specifically designed to be used with the various snow maps/missions out there.( I'm trying to get the characters to look like a team of the Royal Marine Recce troop/mountain & arctic warfare cadre)

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I take it nobody is interested in this minor mod - no problem as I'm having very little success contacting the creators of the original mods used and so couln't release it anyway.

Big thanks to Pyro_monty and JTF_2 for the help & encouragement!

PS I'm still keeping the project going but only for personal use and am hoping to find some bergans (BIG rucksacks)as attachments. Can anyone help?

If I can get permission I'll pass it on! ( I'm still tinkering around with the weapons and a few other bits and pieces so it will not be ready until Xmas time I guess.) Thanks for the interest though

woot! now there's a christmas present i eagerly await, aside from the stuffing grandma makes at christmas! :D

seriously, this needs to be released. i have been playing FB over and over and over lately because of the DTD Cold Call Out. I just wish there was a way to get a Norwegian mod out there to play FB with. <_<

cheers and best of luck with the work you have ahead!

Just had an email from spdier, the guy who did c$k commandos giving permission,. Whayhey!! (Bit sad though, he's left GR for BF1942 as the response to his superb mod was somewhat lacking- but I'm trying to get him back!)

I have Pryo Monty's permission and am just waiting for El Patricio and the dtd pro mod team for weapons and a few faces from NED and IDF (still having trouble contacting them).

I can't get any screen shots up yet but trust me...the team looks the business, new faces, goggles etc. I'm trying to have soldiers wearing a mix of heavy and light order gear. Heavy is taken care of but the light order is limited at present.

One way to improve this would be the inclusion of the peaked cap from the jungle skins onto the Arctic skins as this is commonly worn as well as a bare head option. This however is beyond my limited skills but if anyone can help please contact me.

Oh and I'm still looking for bergans to be used. Did Sixpence have them on his SAS V2 mod (I spent ages D/L'ing it to see if he had only to find I had D/L'd V1)

Cheers

Oooh, I tried mailing him awhile ago but got no response. Please ask him to release the SBS add-on as it was supposedly finished a long time ago but never released.

Sounds like a cool project you have going too, btw.

Spdier said he hasn't finished the SBS mod but is now unfortunately modding for BF 1942 ( He showed me some skins- this guy really has talent!) I have asked him (begged him actually) to finish the SBS mod or even pass his work on to someone else to finish it as a last resort. I don't know if he would respond to a few more pleas or if that would simply be annoying and against his wishes. I'm still hoping he may come come back as it would be a real shame to leave such a great project from one of the best modders unfinished.

Thanks for the interest on the Arctic mod/custom job. I'm still hoping someone will offer to help mixing the headgear around as that will really open up some new potential.

Cheers

Sorry to those that have shown an interest but I'm going to have to give up on this project - I have neither the skill nor patience to be a modder.

If anyone is interested the mod was pretty much as follows:

Arctic skins from 22nd SAS (the principle element to the mod)

Faces and goggles from C$K Commandos

Photog1 face from NED for the new sniper using the support chr skin

Rucksacks from sixpences SAS2.1 on support and demos.

SA80's (& LSW) from C$K commandos

And that's about it. I had it working well but wrecked it when I tried to transfer the peaked cap from the jungle trooper (Peaked caps are worn in cold climates also) but didn't save the work up to that point so it's all gone. I was still waiting for permission from a few people so couldn't have released it anyway.
