Sart
GG's guys! Nice to get the Marine mod running! Here is a shot of Ranger and a AI soldier, as we attacked a terrorist held city:
2nd Ranger
Damn, that was a hard fight. Did you guys try again and/or win after I left? I didn't realise there were so many damn bad guys down there. Although, I didn't want to make it too easy, it is an enemy base, after all. RIP number 3 - that guy was my hero. Here's one of the three of us before heading over to the town. Sart on the right, checking out his RPG, Me in the middle looking smug about my cool wooly hat, and Pave on the left... asleep. El_Nino
Looking at these screenies and others posted lately, it's hard to understand why people are so turned off by the graphics. Look at the natural-looking contours on the ground in the first photo. No hard (glitch-prone) edges as in GR. I was sceptical at first too until I realized how good the game engine is. Now the addon graphics are just icing on the cake.
2nd Ranger
The terrain looks ultra-realistic when you fly above it either early in the morning or with your chopper's light on at night. I think basically it was the low-poly, vague textures of the stock characters and the 2d flora that gave people that impression. They don't realise that the developers only did things like that to optimise performance on a wide spectrum of systems. They could very well have used the standard of textures and modelling we see in our mods, it just would have alienated PC users who, at the time, may have been persuaded to buy Ghost Recon which was more spec-friendly. Sart
I love the characters body's bends over the terrain, and not stick out stiff as a board.
