Sart
GG's last night guys! As our quest for a screen shot program continues... Here is me and T waiting to ambush some BMPs, with Pave off shot to the far right. TOWs rock... Here is a up-close shot of Ranger, flapping around, trying to ruin my aim... 2nd Ranger
Yes, I was dying last night for want of screenshots on the CAT map. It so purdy. Sart, trying to distract the AI machine gunner who was tearing them up like anything. Pave firing at a fleeing Islamic guy who later re-emerged over the hill and into Pave's sights. And we've come to the conclusion that we need some new OPFOR after realising that the Islamic resistance are just white guys with very badly modelled beards glued on. T_1
Sart, Pave and Me in some Bradeys Sarts got him M113 and Hummers heading out M113 in Afghan base
2nd Ranger
Hahaha, look at that hummer burning away, while we ride off into the desert in the M113, blasting everything and cackling like loons. El_Nino
Nice screenies lads. I'm sad I wasn't able to join you but busy with RL. Hoep to be around a little this weekend though. I wholeheartedly agree with 2nd Ranger's comments about the Islamic Resistance units. Personally, I find them a little politically offensive given that it presumses that all Muslims wear long beards and turbans. Bah. I know, it's just a game, but still... I thought that the Afghan pack was an improvement because at least the characters also have appropriate attire. Pity we there's that problem with the RPG guy which I for one was never able to resolve. There are a number of good OPFOR packs out there including some that appropriate for various parts of the world. Let's do some looking. My 2 cents for what they're worth. 2nd Ranger
I didn't think the Afghan guys were much better. They do have, as you say, more apt and varied clothing, but I can never get over their beards. They have the same glued-on look. I have seen some OPFOR packs out there, including an African Militia pack, but obviously some kind of Islamic/Afghan pack would be better as we don't have an appropriate map on which to use African OPFOR. Anyone figured out how to use Oxygen yet?
2nd Ranger
Aha! An Iraqi regular pack. I haven't tried it out yet, but it could be what we're looking for. http://www.atwar.net/download.php?view.3149 Not that the Afghanistan map looks anything like Iraq, but it's all I could find other than the mounds of Russian/Bosnian/Serbian OPFOR packs. 2nd Ranger
Interesting. I was reading about that, it does a bunch of stuff like realistic water reflections, revamped nightvision, etc. Don't know how big it is, or how much it would possibly affect the running of the game, though. 2nd Ranger
Oooh I found another one. Middle-East resistance http://www.atwar.net/download.php?view.1522
2nd Ranger
Okay, the terrorists seem to be having the same kind of RPG-related problem as the Afghan guys, so I tried the Middle-East and Iraqis. The middle-eastern guys. They're pretty good. No problems. They all wear shemaghs and combat vests, and carry slightly remodelled weapons. They're not too detailed which makes them ideal. They are still white, but that I can live with. The iraqis. They are also white, but that, again, doesn't really matter. These guys are pretty cool, and they have some very nicely remodelled weapons, as you can note from this fellow's AK. They come with Iraqi desert BMPs as well. Comments? EDIT I should add, I've noticed an animation problem with with the Iraqis - when you change weapon, there's an ugly grey shape that appears on the model, then goes away. I think we should just go for the Middle-Eastern guys, as they'd be more apt for the Afghanistan map than the iraqis. Sart
How about a mix between the middle-eastern guys and the Iraqis? That way we get the desert BMP along with the cool middle-eastern charactors.
2nd Ranger
Good point there - use the ME characters but steal the Iraqi BMP. I'm down with that.
