Reiver
Well with GR2 on the way i thought i might as well have a go at this there modding thing that everyone does, so here's my effort so far, Task Force Ranger, which is loosely based around the US army's campaign in Somalia in 91'. I have re-textured two maps (so far) Villinus and Polling Station to use , and the mod contains a a lot of stuff too numerous to mention, courtesy of Blakarion. I have doen three missions so far and would like them play testing whilst i bang on with the next few, i am planning have six missions all together as i don't get a lot of time to do modding and would appreciate any comments, likes/dislikes, ideas and suggestions anyone has on what i've done so far. if your up for it then drop me a PM and i'll give you the addy of the exe file, its currently at 44mb compressed just to give you fore warning of download size i've put some screen shots below for you to have a look at, i hope you like em, again drop me a PM if ya fancy testing for me. blakarion.
Reiver may be a little while yet, although he is speeding up his Modding (and ability !) Believe me, these missions are fun to play and hes trying to cram as many new twists he can into each one

Reiver
Thanks to the guys who took the time to give what i've done so far a play test, from your feedback so far i've made the following changes: Each mission is now more difficult/easier depending on whether you play on Recruit/Veteran/Elite, some found it too hard and some had to resort to using the Superman cheat to finish mission one(you know who you are!!! ) Have had the Somalian Technicals re-done (cheers Blakarion) so that they can now hit you, don't know if you noticed but there was a problem with the model which meant they couldn't hit you if you were crouched or prone, they can now Have changed the AT4 to a M72 LAW as the US Army didn't adopt the M136 AT4 till the late 80's, the M72 was used in Somalia. This is lighter than the AT4 so means m ore ammo can be carried (was working on about 10kg kits each person) thats all for now, currently working on the next mission and will keep people posted with whats going on, once again thanks for the guys who play tested for me and i'll let people know when the next lot is ready. gulf01
i liked it especially the maps, but don't like the weapons selection.could be a bit more smoother game play.over all the missions where good.
Reiver
i've based the kits as much as i can around the original weapons used by the US Army Rangers in 1991,My sources from here this basically means M16's M24's and M249's, not a lot else. I've had the stats of the weapons adjusted as well to reflect the stats given on the Colt and Remington websites as i felt the original GR weapons stats were wrong and didn't reflect the true capabilities of the weapons. when the MOD is finished there will be some specialists going in with better kits for you to choose from, but until then its just the basic kits for now. Cowboy_USVN
I am guessing you mean in 1993-1994 Somalia Mission. If so... might want to take a look here www.bhd93.com and ask the wives of those killed in Action if they would like it if you made a mod out of their husbands sacrifices. Reiver
No Cowboy i wouldn't, in the same way that EA Games didn't ask thousands of people who lost loved ones in WWII if they could make Medal of Honour, or Activision when they did Call of Duty, i don't think EA Games asked all the families of people who lost relatives in the Vietnam conflict before doing Battlefield Vietnam, or Illusion Software before doing Viet Cong, and to round it all off i'm pretty sure Novalogic didn't contact anyone before releasing Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and the subsequent Team Sabre Expansion. All these games are based on events that took place in a perticualr place and time, and are not trying to recreate what went on back then, no game could ever come close to that, but just to provide a theme for a game, nothing more. At the end of the day if you don't like what i'm doing, don't download it and don't playit, its as simple as that. If you wanna continue this discussion then please feel free to PM me as this is the General Mod topic thread and it ain't the time or the place to discuss it

Cpl Ledanek
Oh no not anothe BHD arguement...careful guys. I know the "intent" is good, but some ppl here are sympathetic to the family of the BHD community. Many had good intent to make BHD-related mission/mods, but got drop due to respect to the families. This is not to flame anyone. But this subject has been brought up, and will become another hotbed if ppl become too hostile and dont respect fellow gamers that post their honest opinions here. Like I said, good intent to share a promising mod. Good luck Reiver and I hope you'd become and be part of an elite modders out there for GR. We look forward to the outcome of this mod and this discussions.
