snowpilot
Hey y'all. Just wondering what the longest kill you have ever made is. I only mean sniper rifles here. No grenades, no modding the zoom on m16s or other assault rifles. I mean true blue, one shot one kill sniping.

Snake
Ill tell you a tiny story: I was resting on a rock with my M82 barret cocked and primed for a long range kill. I get to my sniping point on a high cliff above my team's camp and i had someone fire into the air for a enemy and i thought i weasn't gonna hit the enemy cause he was on the other side of the map so i picked a spot to shoot and adredalin flowed through my veins and it was the winning shot. I go into my combat senses mode and i squeeze the trigger BAMMM! the rifle jearked and i felt recoil i look and i knew travel time is about 2 seconds i wait and it seemed like hours since i was seeing everything in slow motion it eventually said i killed the man and the range must of been about 1200m or more i know that. The guy who signalled me said i got him between the eyes too

I'm guessing that that shot was either with a real barret or is pure crap.
Snake
snowpilot i always add realism to my stories i can't help it yes i did shoot across the map with the unbeatable ballistic sniping weapon the barret.

The_Slink
I got one against the camp runner in M01. He ran off into the mist so I took a guess as to were he was, shot a bullet from the default M-24 and got a message: Charlie: Enemy Down. My best long range shot ever.... Matt03
I modified the Airbase map to have no fog once. I started at the very end of the runway with a tango at the other side of the base. Roughly 800 meters or so. I had to move within 700-650 meters until I got the kill. That was done with the stock M24 as well. I didn't hit him on the first shot but I finally got him when he made a stop. He almost escaped my sights by going behind the large hanger but I was lucky to take him out before then. Probably my longest kill on a stock map would be anywhere from 250-300 meters.

Loot
Fogless caves with an M24, the binocs read something like 380m but it looked a helluva lot further than that. It was from the insertion point quite literally across the map.
snowpilot
looks like you guys like to take 700 m shots.... guess what.....THE MAPS ARE ONLY 600m along the DIAGONAL!!!!!! Try using the "range" hack on the console input. gives u the true range rather than assuming that because its a sniper rifle, the range is a lot greater than it really is! CR6
looks like you guys like to take 700 m shots.... guess what.....THE MAPS ARE ONLY 600m along the DIAGONAL!!!!!! ← Snowpilot is right. It is well known that the max size of GR maps are 400x400m. So a bit of simple math (Pythagorean Theorem) shows 400m^2 x 400m^2 = 566m^2. So the longest diagonal shot couldn't be more than 566m. It's totally pheasable to have a shot greater than 600 meters in Ghost Recon. That said, you all aren't sniping. You're just plinking. Hop into VBS1 or OFP, and drop a guy at 1,500 meters, accounting for weapon cant, bullet drop, time to target, and target movement. Then you're sniping.
