Crimson 0
After a botched install of the Longhorn Trasformation pack (7), I've lose my tabs in the display propties menu. I tried unstinalling the POS software but it wont let me. What do I need to do to fix this problem? Also, I had to create a new account on the computer, because mine is black because of the pack, and I have no way of navigating, I have no clue how to fix that either. Help me before I put my computer through a wall.
blistr 0
I too had a bad experience with the Longhorn Transformation Pack. I was able to uninstall it, however I needed to reinstall Windows XP to fix the uninstallation Have you tried using System Restore? Whilst it has its own problems it may be able to restore (?) Windows to a state prior to the Longhorn Transformation installation.
Cpl Ledanek 247
head on over Themexp to the forum. They got kewl ppl there to help you out. I play around StyleXP also. My theme are Panther or Mimic (OS X) style and the XBox theme. If you got a 1G memory, give the Alienware theme a go. You can d/l from the Alienware website. good luck
Crimson 0
A reformat is out of the question, since I do not have my DS and IT cds... no clue where they went. If anyone is using this theme pack, go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\LHTrans and if you're willing, email this file: nusmgr.cpl I don't have that file and because of that, it wont let me uninstall the pack. blistr 0
You can reinstall Windows by asking it to repair the current installation. It will still retain your programs, etc. but you will need to reupdate Windows with SP1 & 2. www.tgtsoft.com/forums probably more experienced over there. I agree. Crimson 0
Actually, a reinstallation of just the OS sounds good. (For other reason too.) How do I do that? I booted from the CD, hit R for repair and came to a DOS screen. It asked for the admin password, then it sat there with a cursor next to C:\WINDOWS. I typed in HELP for a list of commands but I didnt recognize any as repair... just FORMAT.
blistr 0
To reinstall Windows, first make a backup of your My Documents and Favorites folders (just in case, I think these are erased in the reinstallation). Boot up from the Windows CD and select install Windows XP. Select repair current installation and follow the prompts.
GRT 0
Id say backup your registry also. Becuase no GR cds means regs will go away to(wont they?).
Crimson 0
I figured it out. Bad news: my account is apparently screwed. Good news: I got my tabs back. I just copied over my files to this new account and am currently downloading/installing SP2. Why I didn't creat a slip stream awhile ago is beyond me.
