porschefan8 0
I have an idea that I think would work. Here is what I think I would do- -change the .mis files for a mod so that the maps use different .xml's for the specialists -have different .xml's: unlocked_heroes_night, rain, etc -make different camos for the different xmls the idea would be that for the night missions the specialists would have black camo, rain camo (maybe) for rain missions and urban camo for urban maps, with the maps using differnet xmls that have the same specialists, but with different camo. Would anyone be interested in a mod like this, or does no one actually play with the original characters anymore? Just an idea. . . . . . The maps each have a specialist character set assigned to them. If nothing is assigned, it goes to the regular specialists by default. Pretty easy to change...
GothicSnake 0
Soooo...does that mean you can have the specialists look different on every map? Like, you could have mission 1 and mission 2 of GR each with a different set of specialists for them? How would I go about doing this? I wanna try it.
WP33 0
You might be able to do it. I just guess you would need a couple different specialist (or hero) XMLs. The only issue I can see with it is a potential conflict with the actual specialist actor files. I may be wrong, but you might be stuck using the default actor file names which would then kind of negate what you were trying to do. One option I can see is using the IT and DS hero XMLs in those maps you want changed and altering the desert and jungle specialists to whatever uniforms you want to use. Of course, you would then be stuck with those uniforms in desert and jungle maps, but not a big deal if you play a whole campaign. Anyone have any other ideas?
WP33 0
and, sorry, I completely blew it. You asked how to do it. Use Igor to open whichever map you wish to apply a hero XML to. In the lower right corner is a button labeled "Mission Properties". Click that and it will bring up a dialog with a box about 2/3 of the way down that says "Unlocked Hero File". Put in the appropriate file in this format: d_unlockedheroes.xml or whatever you are going to use. Save the map and move on to whatever else you want to change. You can also change whether or not a map needs unlocking here, but that's kinda cheap, isn't it? If you need any more help, let me know.
