HAHA I didnt realize there was a guy named Streinger that plays. Ill have to change my name again to avoid confusion, maybe just Mercs inc. Screens will be uploaded tonight, and video must be re-compressed, because they stuff is huge. We are talking 1.5 GB of footage from 3 missions we did tonight.

Here you go Whisper, a pic of you on top:

Whisper owns the mission

Advancing down the street

Gordo & Mac keeping each other warm

Mushroom cloud. Gordo takes out the tank as it kills him.

Since you CSHAG buggers have finally finished my Air Assault mission, it's time to move onto my next one.

I realise you have not come close to finishing Morning Glory yet, but I always like to have an extra one "in the pipe". A bit like when you pick up a weapon......

You put a full mag in, pull back the slide to get "one in the Pipe", pull out the mag (now minus one round) and insert a new "full" one. Worked for me in my IPSC pistol shooting days, so I guess it would work in mission development.

Anyway, enough RL talk...onto the next mission "in the pipe".

After countless hours playing with the CSHAG'ers I have noticed a fair bit of repetative gameplay. Us scripters got so wound up in all the new toys and large maps that we forgot about the good ol' random element that is found in well scripted GR missions (not to mention also found in real life).

So I been thinking.......(which is hard for me :P )

What's the two main elements to make the OPFOR "more" random?

1. Random spawning is one option, but to be honest I'm not a big fan of this since the VBS1..aka OPF maps are so large you could spawn enemies that will never even see the BLUFOR. It worked well in GR due to the small size of the maps. So...how about random spawning linked into a hunter-killer script? The OPFOR may spawn anywhere, but once you add the great hunter-killer script by Baron Hurlothrumbo IIX, you have OPFOR that will be placed randomly on a large map, BUT they will move FAST to hunt you down.

2. The most random acting OPFOR are never AI, but human players. Introduce more MP slots for humans and immediately you have more "randomness" to the scenario.

Having said all that, here's the concept for my next mission.........

The ADF 2RAR were part of a UN peacekeeping force on the Island of Nogova. Almost overnight the combat situation changed from peacekeeping to escaping when the majority of the federal troops decided the rebellion was actually a good thing and joined the push. All of a sudden your small team is behind "enemy" lines and forced to flee.

Previously "safe" UN bases are either over-run or non-existent. Basically, your squad is very alone on a large map.

Most UN forces have left the area, and your squad was no exception. One minute you were onboard a C130 heading for safe haven and the next thing you know the bird is going down. So you start the mission at the crash site...........

You have half an Island to cover to make it to a safe extraction point...yes, half an Island! OPFOR are all over the place since as far as they are concerned, this is an occupied area. To make matters worse, a Hind gunship is in the air (controlled by human players) and is searching every inch of the Island for you.

Forget about SAFE behaviour OPFOR walking around pre-determined waypoints that you can pick off when you choose; this time, they are hunting you! When they detect you, there will be no stupid "lets all run at full speed" type of attack, it will be rush-cover-rush-cover-rush.

To assist the human OPFOR hind pilot, gunner and passengers, once you have been detected they will be given updates of your last position. It prevents the poor buggers flying around the whole Island looking for ghosts. These updates are obviously dependent on if and how often you are detected.

So BLUFOR players, since you have so much ground to cover, don't indiscriminately destroy all vehicles with Jav's or CG's. Maybe a few well placed shots through the windsceen could assist..... ;) . Riding in a blood filled OPFOR vcl is better than walking ;)

Anyway, thats just the mission as I see it tonight. It's mechanics will probably change 100 times before it's ready for testing, but at least you guys have a fair idea of what to expect for the next batch of MP testing....

Cheers,

Now that sounds like fun mate!

Any chance you will give the poor little BlueFor some Stingers or are they going to be totally left out to the rage of the mighty hind  I know Gordo is fairly proficient in taking out helos using an RPG but I'd like to see him try that amidst a rain of 30mm rounds, be fun to see him try from the pilots view though

Yeah was wondering abou that point last night, maybe get some Strela's off some OPFOR or...yes Snow an rpg or two if memory serves me correct re Hinds.

And yes would not be pleasant lining up a hind with a human manning the 30MM. Mind u u;d have to find us first

Hmm might just have to add a F/A-18 in there....see how ur Hind boys like being hunted AMRAAM style

Viper - your missions keep me coming back for more, this sounds like another one.

Can't wait to see what you come up with....

Couldn't have said it better myself. I am having such a ball playing Vipes' missions.

It's worth the entry alone just to hear Vipes and Streinger hanging it on each other :D .......I can hear the drums Fernando

Haven't decided yet ;)

Don't want the poor OPFOR players flying around and getting shot without even getting a round off.

Then again, 30mm vs ground troops is a pretty unfair match up.

I'll try and balance it so it's a fair match for each side.

One thing I didn't mention, is I'm planning on giving the BLUFOR a damn long way to go, so it could prove to be either very quick or extremely long mission.

LMAO

You'd never know we were good friends if you eavesdropped out TS sessions one night. :P

They really do sound like they are in Love don't they?

Dear Mr. Marauder,

I hereby advise that you have now been added to "the list".

At present, the top of the list is Mr Mark Latham, followed closely by Mr R Streinger.

After your last few posts, you are now hovering around 9 or 10 at present.

What is "the list"? Put it this way, it's definately not the top ten ppl I'd like to sleep with. Log in to a mission to find out what it is.

Such a disappointment......you were shaping up to be a very good allied member indeed. Your sense of humour alone was enough to get you through.

Guess I have to mark you down as OPFOR now....

Damn life is full of ups and downs :(
