cryptomorph 1
EDIT: Never mind...... why am I getting the direct URLs now off http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/files-maps.htm and not before? I was always being directed to a page that asked me if I had logged into Fileplanet or Gamespy. To get to any file I had to do a search. Maybe it's a function of fileplanet's login and not GR.net. My apologies. ORIGINAL POST: Whenever some mod here looks good and I go to download at fileplanet the URL given is some entry page. There's a search function but it's one of the dumbest search engines I've ever used. It can't even accept quotes for a phrase without bringing up results for all the individual words. Then there the problem of finding files. For example GR.net gave high recommendations for two levels I want: The Dam and Industrial. Yet doing general searches didn't help.... and even searching within the Ghost Recon section didn't help. Here's those URLs: http://www.fileplanet.com/search.aspx?q=in...ial&s=90445&v=0 http://www.fileplanet.com/search.aspx?q=dam&s=90445&v=0 According to their search engine... those two mods aren't even there! Is there ANY possibility that when a URL is given here to a download it's to the actual URL where we can download? Why can't a URL like this http://www.fileplanet.com/download.aspx?f=89054 for the Ossetian Woodlands mod be posted for ALL downloads? If fileplanet requires GR.net to post just the entry URL so we can jump though hoops to be exposed to all the ads, then maybe a collection of URLs can be posted in this forum. calius 0
I had the same thing. I looked a the left hand menu oprions (on black column) and the option "logout" was there, so urrrm im logged in (cookies ok) but its asking to make an account, even though im logged in? Anywho ... I clicked the "logout" option to see if re-loggin in would sort it, clicked it, and ummm in then went to the download section for that file (the whole point i was taken to fileplanet from gr.net for a new map)?? Thus meaning nothing was wrong ...... Just a ploy to start a paying account i suspect.

I just tried to link to a download and I double checked and the link was clearly a zip file but I again got redirected to http://www.fileplanet.com/gsid.aspx which is where I kept getting dumped yesterday. So I assumed we were left to find the file on our own and anyone who's used the fileplanet search engine knows it's worthless made worst by having to see the ads between each page. Fileplanet's download controller works when it feels like. I managed to get 2 downloads with it then it disappeared and becuase I disconnected my download manager it defaulted to IE's download manager. I restarted my download manager and they clearly are blocking resume on all but their download controler... not that that always works. As for their login... I can't figure out ###### is going on there. All the menu says is LOG OUT even when one is logged in. When I log out I'm dumped to http://www.fileplanet.com/gsid.aspx but there's no clear LOG IN option. The same thing that happened to you, happened to me. I clicked on log out again... and where do I end up? At the map I tried to download in the first place!!!!! http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planetr...vel/tg_map1.rar FilePlanet is a god awful mess. cryptomorph 1
..... cough, sort of what i said .... LOL... I didn't read your post that carefully and once I did I edited LOL. But as long as we're commenting on FP's incompetence... I went to the link for Ghost ######. It was a broken link. No problem... there's an option to report broken links. What do I get? A broken link to the broken link report page! http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/%7Eatwar/ikonb...st;CODE=00;f=12 Not Found The requested URL /~atwar/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi was not found on this server. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/1.3.29 Server at dynamic3.gamespy.com Port 80 TO MODS... this thread is getting off topic since the problems are clearly NOT with GR.net. Feel free to move it to the appropiate forum. Forum note.... why is the word ###### censored in the forums when it's a REAL GR mod? Moderator Edit: Please do not try to bypass the swear filter To Stalker: I tried to respond to your letter but it would not go though. I wasn't trying to bypass anything. I WAS trying to get the link for the Ghost R*t*rd download. Yes there IS such a joke mod and it's listed at www.ghostrecon.net. It's the last one in the TC list at http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/files.htm#1 Who would be able to replicate what I did if I didn't provide the correct file name? Pyro_Monty 0
Yeah, Stalker knows about that mod. However we thought it would be best to cut the word out of your post. Sorry if it seems a bit excessive. As far as I know, Rocky has tried to break affilliation with that mod.
Stalker 0
yes! as pyro said: we know that that word wasnt meant in a bad manner.

Rocky 1,224
Just to summerise and confirm answers to questions raised. Download links from here, link directly to the correct download page for that mod at Fileplanet. If you are not logged into Gamespy, you might instead be directed to a login page. Problems in this area will prevent the mod being downloaded, and is likely a problem with Gamespy and the users cookies. Searching for these mods at Fileplanet will not work. The mods that I fast-track upload, bypass the normal submission process, which means you get the mods quicker, but they don't appear in Fileplanet's file index. There are no "ploy"s, at least not from this end. The mods come in to me, I upload them to FP, you guys can download them. I don't have any "deal" with FP.

Thanks for responding... and I've already apologized for suggesting the problem was with GR.net. I was at a friend's house last night and I had NO problems going direct from a mod link here to a file at FP. Yet I have tons of problems on my and other friend's PCs. Maybe it's cookies... but IE and ZA Pro are set for medium security and should not affect FP cookies. I have no problem at any other site at this setting. I need to experiment more.
