Any Training Tracks Available?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to Ghost Recon and really enjoying this game quite a bit. Only prob is, I am not doing such a hot job of using the command map to manage my fire teams.

I sure would like to see how some of you more experienced folks handle your troops while under fire. I am patched to version 1.4 and have all the expansion packs installed as well.

I'm not looking for a complete walk-through, I just want to get a better idea on how to use my resources more effectively. :o=

Thanks for any help you can send my way.

Hi DD and welcome to the forum's (i'm assuming your new here).

Could you be a little more specific in your request. Is it just the command map your having trouble with - if so which part of it.

If it's playing the game then how do you play - slow and cautious or bold and reckless? Slow and cautious wins the day normally.

Don't forget the KB shortcuts which are useful gor putting your hole team on suppress if some excrement should hit the fan.

Putting your guys into hold mode will make them find cover.

try using the recon command to get you guys to move up to a good position. Have another squad flank and then make them engage. Get 1 squad firing 1st and then let the other team open up to really confuse the enemy.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Jex,

Thanks for the reply. I agree with the tip about being slow and cautious. I am beginning to understand the different command functions in GR but I need to get much quicker at giving my orders.

GR is the first tactical shooter that I have ever played. I have been stuck on flight sims (EAW,Mig Alley, IL2) for the last few years and I am really enjoying this new line of gaming.

As far as the tracks are concerned, I was hoping to have a track of the first mission (Iron Dragon) e-mailed if possible. I belonged to a Squadron for IL2 and our members would exchange tracks of our missions so we could learn from observing one another.

I think I could learn a lot by watching a more experienced player manage their fireteams. Anyway, thanks for the tips and welcome. :)

in general, use your command map a LOT. think of it as a rear-view mirror. the fact is, even if you yourself do not notice the tango, so long as a soldier has them in his sight range, the tango WILL show up on the map.

in terms of engaging, it should be noted that no matter how good the team AI is, you will always be better. set waypoints and firing archs so as to provide cover for the human controlled squad.

always try to keep a "recon" roe and use your keyboard shortcuts to issue fire orders on the fly (without having to pull up the command map).

at the end of the day, and especially given that the command map sees most of its full use in single player, everyone i believe develops their own style of commanding their squad.

but as mentioned, its highly highly advisable to go slow, stay low.
