Swordfish
Land Warrior System(LWS), was designed to work in conjunction with the Weapon Site, GPS, as well as Communications. 1.) It's not in use here in GR, due to the fact in Multi-player games, you can't set up way points or show some sort of battle plan as the real LWS works. 2.) GR has only type writen command message and no voice comms. LWS has this ability. 3.) GR the Soldier has to peek around and get shot at. LWS lets the soldier use his rifle and is never seen only his weapon. 4.) My favorite one for LWS is this; The OICW can communicate to other OICW's or LWS based weapons for target information. (EXAMPLE: Joe is out of ammo but is looking at a enemy soldier through his OICW, his Team mate Bob is 20-30 yrds away and doesn't see the enemy soldier, however Joes OICW sends him the info where the target is and where to aim the 20mm to fire! Bob fires his 20mm never seeing the enemy yet hits him dead on! 5.) No video communications in the game, meaning you can't see what your team mate is looking at, unless your dead. LWS you can patch his camera to you and you see what he is looking at! 6.) LWS can send for Medic, and other simple commands for quick responce time! This is what LWS is all about! GR doesn't have this as of yet, perhaps GR2 will! To date no sim has actually been able to incorporate the LWS in it or the OICW or M4 w/LWS. Alfa FSB
Yeah and if they incorporate the LW system than the minimal specs would be a 6Ghz CPU 4Gb of Ram and a the game on 4 DVD`s. GR is more than a year old. And think hwo has the OICW only Jacobs and Cohen so basicly no point to implement it at such detail since in real life there will be one or none soldiers in a sqaud with OICW. LW is not ment as a cool weapon kids stuff is exactly like in GR comunications numbers and letters not voice, data from all the battle field (and since we are talking about special operatons only UAV`s and Sattelites). LW is all about the information flow not cool weapons and that ability to use a 6-8kg weapon to peek around corners and maybe get a shot if you are lucky. I think that the LW implementation in GR is all that it needs for now. GR 2 i wounder if it will came out i hope but i don`t think it will. Jex
1) You can set way points via your map/command console 2) Download Teamspeak and use this to communicate to other online players. (and if you meant for single players - what's the point, u play by yourself lol) 3)I think you need to appreciate what it takes to write a game because what you are asking is not so easy to implement. It could be incorporated but it would probably be to hard to use effectively. You already have loads of keys to move just the player, how many more would you need to move the weapon on an x,y,z axis? - I suppose you could have a LW mode in which the mouse movements were transferred to the gun, leaving you in effect motionless and prone to attack. In MP though people would just shoot your gun as it was stuck around the corner and thus making ur LW useless. Also it would probably be to cumbersome to use in game MP. On SP though it would be interesting to see. 4) use your map and threat indicator 5) Delta force had this option where you could see through the eyes of other players (it showed up as a small square in the top right of screen). However the view was so small that it made it practically useless. If done for GR2 would need to be a lot bigger. 6) There are no medics in GR and you have KB shortcuts for your squad for simple commands. WEP_Magnum
This was one of the things that irked me when I originally bought GR (I'm over it now, though)... GR is set in 2009... LWS is supposed to be fielded by then and on the way to the (I forget the name) next generation soldier (the guy in all black lyrca and a motorcycle helmet... I understand why they set GR so far in the future (to avoid similarities with any conflicts that could arise), so i'm happy with play as is. Zantar45
The guy in '' the black lycra suit with the helmet '' is OFW-Objective Force Warrior. And about the OICW-Objective Individual Combat Weapon, the Military is gonna name it the '' M26 '' when they adopt it as a standard weapon in 2006. I know alot on this stuff ...what a minute now that you know i know alot to know..... ......i think you know a little too much ............ there that is that..... i hope no one saw that...... lol
Tollen
psst... Zantar45! the OCIW isn´t going to be designated M26, the correct designation for the entire system is M29 Do any one remember the game SWAT 3 Close Quarters Battle? There you had working "squadmate"-view that made it quite fun to play! It didn´t take up to much view and it was detailed enough. You also had some kind of fiberoptic camera, and sure, you got defenseless, but it worked as long as a teammate covered your back! So I would definetly want to see real Land Warrior weapons and equipment, and I would also like to have the ability to trade these High Tech weapons for some lowtech counterparts at half the weight (and therefore give me an edge in movementspeed) One more thing: In Spliter Cell you got your infrared-glasses. In the LWS, that big camera that´s sidemounted to the gun is a FLIR, that would be very handy in a GR-sequal (that and that everything in the world get a penetration-index (you know, shoot through plasterwalls and such)) Edited February 21, 2003 by Tollen

Tollen
For some reason they don´t like when you camouflage those words, so I just made it "painfully"... You have played Swat 3 right? So that you know what I´m talking about?
