Well, you can get OFP GOTY for like ten dollars. At least, that's the equivalent of what I paid for mine in £.

I don't get all this stuff about Flashpoint's graphics. Sure, they're dated, but they look cool. Especially during dawn/dusk missions. I dunno what it is. Furthermore, the modeling is solid.

As I said, I play more OFP than GR right now, and the last time I did play GR I couldn't help but realise how crude GR is compared to Flashpoint. Things about GR have always bugged me, like the HUD graphics and the way your player slides across the ground when you move. Then there's the sharp, blocky modelling. To me, alot of things about GR scream 'NOT FINISHED!'. I personally just find Flashpoint more satisfying.

First of i don't know how you come up with the graffics are better in GR. OFP graffics are old but i seen more detail in the trucks heli's the lot. Maybe not much but the buildings are some whot distructable. And yeah over all the graffics are DEFANTLY better than GR's are in sooo many ways. And if some one does go to buy it PLEASE play the demo first at least you will get some sort of idea whot the games like as it's a lot differant than GR. In fact it makes GR look plain. And maybe [OFP: DR] has been delayed becouse there prolly making tons of money of VB1 and would'nt do if [OFP: DR] came out that and problems that they came across. And @ dawn time in OFP looks soooo nice.

Flashpoint itself is quite outdated, but Resistance is probably one of the most ambitious expansions ever, it was more of a whole upgrade to the game than just new art content. It goes against the general business sense of just pumping out more material as quickly as possible to make money, which gained BIS a lot of credit with fans. The island Nogova is way better looking and higher detail than any of the original islands were, multiplayer code and modding support is way better in Resistance.

I would definitely recommend looking into the Resistance demo for anyone who tried original OFP and gave up on it.

There's no doubt that OFP in general lacks polish, but this is a direct trade-off to the overall ambition of the game, which is still unsurpassed in its genre of huge battlefields and combine arms.

One of the details that still blows me away is the realistic passage of time, with proper longitude/lattitude for sun position throughout the year, and the accurate star positions in the night sky that you can actually use for navigation (and you have to in one escape & evasion mission in the Resistance campaign).

You do that in Resistance too? I recall doing that in CWC as the pilot after you bail out of your A-10. That was a cool mission. "If I can find the big dipper, I can use the North star to navigate!". That was a nice touch.

I love the time effects. Many a time I've been running around on a long MP mission and realised how the sun sets (everything looks very nice at sunset in Flashpoint). The dynamic weather effects help create more atmosphere too.

I hijacked the BMP went down the road a little bit got out after the Helo got up and followed the coast. If you go East I think it should be a shorter route. I always got shot trying to go through the woods and stuff.

well I put together my first misson and It was not Everon but the one with the houses. I was able to create units, groups, waypoints, triggers and cause the game to play music or sounds when waypoints were reached.

What I ended up with was two armys within a 1/8th a mile of each other in a shoot fest. I went to my codemaster file and found my saved mission and opened it with notepad. It looked like a lot of code similar to html (i am not a programmer)

I could not figure out how to make it a real mission, use the script editor, there were a lot of things to click on them and change but no explanation or help feature to say this is used for this etc...

1.what do scripts do and how do I use them?

2. How do I creat conversations and captains giving orders?

3. How do I get the begining of the game to brief me with mission objectives>

I guess I am stuck

so can anyone here give me any tips on what to do actually creat a REAL MISSION

thanks,

Longshankslives

The most I've bothered to do with the mission editor is just to place some vehicles and soldiers so I can check out some of the mods I've downloaded. I got a Mogadishu map the other day, which is pretty nice. I also got some British infantry soldiers, which allow you to bayonet people. Nice.
