Nightjay0044
ALL PC WAR GAMERS~ Has anybody herd of the PC Game called "Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crises?" It's a realistic War game, where you can play single player missions, campaigns, and build your own missions, which is really easy to learn. There is another OFP being made called "[Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising]". It was scheduled to be released late 2004. Now they just all of a sudden changed it to "Spring 2006". I have herd this has probably happened due to [OFP: DR] for XBOX. They probably want to release XBOX [OFP: DR] before PC [OFP: DR]. What my objective is, to try to get people to get interested in Operation Flashpoint. The game you can buy in the stores now is called "Operation Flashpoint Game of the year edition". It contains 3 cds, the original cd and two upgrades. With over 10 single player missions, and 3 campaigns, and inside each of those campaigns contain atleast 20 or more missions. Also you can use the very powerful mission editor, to create your missions, and make them exsactly how you want. If any PC gamer likes or loves war games, i urge you to purchase Operation Flashpoint Game Of The Year Edition. You will not be disapointed. Yes this does not relate to Ghost Recon, i relise that. But if your interested in the game, please visit the Operation Flashpoint Official Site. www.Bistudio.com Thank you for your time.
Kurtz
Played it, hated it, uninstalled it, sold it. As the Israelis say, "Never again!" I've had root canal work that was more fun than OFP. Humbug!

Nightjay0044
KURTZ~ Can you tell me why you hated it so much, i think you just like putting my comment down for some reason? I'm not trying to make some one change there mind, i just want people to maybe check out, Operation flashpoints site and see if there interested. If you want to use critisimn humor, don't do it around me.
Pyro_Monty
What you have to appreciate, Nightjay, is that there is a bit of rivalry between OFP and Ghost Recon. Also, I think it's fair to say that OFP is the kind of game that you either love or you hate -- looks like you've found the latter in Kurtz. Let's not let this topic get heated; I don't think Kurtz was really trying to start anything, just being a bit to-the-point. If you're lucky, you'll meet a few of our resident OFP gamers/modders 'round here.
Bikecop272
Nightjay is an OFP modder. And if there is rivalry its because BIS is a small team and company. They handed over all of the VBS1 software to be thrown out all over the world except in the united states. We came here because [OFP: DR] release has been delayed 2 more years (Spring 2006) we thought if we got enough players we could get some answers. There so we would like for anyone who has not tried it out to do so. This was Bikecop and I approved this message.
KRP 56
Played it, hated it, uninstalled it, sold it. As the Israelis say, "Never again!" I've had root canal work that was more fun than OFP. Humbug! :rofl:I never went so far as to buy it but the demo convinced me that it wasn't for me. A friend of mine feels like you do Kurtz about OFP,he bought a copy of it and only played it about an hour before it got put in the junk pile never to be played again. Parabellum
OFP is definitely an acquired taste. Alot of people, like myself, installed it, promptly uninstalled it, and then came back to it a year later and loved it. VBS1 is superior to OFP, and you can't fully appreciate it until you've played both.
Nightjay0044
For everyone replies, keep them coming, everyones reply wil be looked at but not necassarely responeded too. I see a few people have installed it and didn't appreciate it that much. I realize that everyone is going to have their own opinion on this matter. I just want to achieve, that people to test it out, wheather if it's on the site, through a demo, or they buy it, it's their choice. You don't have to like it. Thank You for everyones time. firefly2442
I kinda like it. The mod tools for creating your own missions are pretty cool and the scope is a lot bigger than GR. You can have planes going overheard and choppers landing squads of guys all around with firefights erupting all over. The graphics engine is OK. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the sequel.

Bikecop272
VBS1 is a training tool for military and secret service.sometimes police and other orginisations.OFP has been edited to look better and more fun to play (Finnish defence forces and better made mods like making it more reallistic). As I said we need more people playing and looking into the OFP community also.So we can get some answers from BIS why they are delaying [OFP: DR] for 2 years. SnowFella
How come so many of us are currently playing VBS1 if it's just a military training tool? I can honstly say that I have tried OP flashpoint, got the GOTY edition, and hated it...so I was alittle hesitant getting into VBS but as it turns out it's an earthshattering difference playing VBS compared to playing OPF! And delaying games for 2 years.....tell me a single game that didn't get delayed during production??? Better to be told about it now than 1 year down the track don't you think? The BIS staff are doing their best at making a new kick ass game for us players and all they are getting is flack for delaying it somewhat. AsRock+SD
Hello All. Thought i'd reply and give my pennys worth hehe. First of i loved the demo when it was 1st released And i compleated the game some years ago and thought it had a great story to go with it. About 2 months ago ( Maybe a lil longer ) i had a idea to try this game out again and i found 1 thing i hated about it CUTSCENES and ended up stoping playing it. BUT now we @ +SD have managed to get our own server up and running now. So i uploaded it to the server ( 56k ) and i'll NEVER regret it. We play it sooo much it's up at least 22h a day. Multiplayer is 80% more fun added to this game and walks all over GR in MANY ways. Map wise, gameplay, leadership Getting lost as the maps are so dam massive Locating your self by street signs roads contors, More realistic convoys. like in if you distroyed the lead verical the others will go around. You can pick weapons up more realistic scopes, better night vision ( tango's don't glow like light bulbs. Anyways thats my pennys worth and compleatly understand why some one would NOT like this game. BUT dam whot a game. . I know whot i be playing for some time to come yet and it prolly wont be GR2 and defantly not GR...

I like both games but even with mods and what not the game life expectance should roughly be between two and three years. Games are coming out now like Joint Ops and other that have some really nice graphics and cool features and the older games can't compete. Yeah there are going to be quite a few people who still play old games but the core community will have moved on to new games. It doesn't matter if OFP suddenly sold to every person in the world. BIS and Codemasters would not move production up just to ship a half ass sequel. Probably what is going on right now at this moment no matter what the reason for the delay is the programmers are looking for new features and what not they can put into the engine. So it could be better than you thought. They could be looking to take something like VBS1 mainstream and see what happens. Who knows what the reason for the delay and who really cares. GR fans have waited a long time for a sequel and it seems it is being taken in a bad direction. But I think that with the delay like this the game will come back better than ever. Maybe be one of the best. Just keep the hope that they don't do something stupid like focus on giving the gamers on consoles the action they want and giving the same action to people on the PC. osokdfgr
I;ve installed/uninstalled the OFP demo on my PC at least three times...now I just installed and played the resistance demo, I'm begining to like this game. Sniping is gr8 fun..
lexsis
attention ALL !! the only thing to hate about OFP is the graphics !!! other than that, it beats the living Sh!T out of GR anyday.. besides making you feel like youre a part of a 'bigger war' OFP gives you giant maps that that GR can only dream of, vehicles you can use, weapons can be dropped or picked up., meet up with reinforcements.., on and on and on. osokdfgr
ok down to my Q should I purchase OFP or should I wait for [OFP: DR]... I'm thinking about running out to the store, right now, and getting it... Edited August 13, 2004 by osokdfgr
Matt03
Why wait till spring of 06 to get [OFP: DR] when OFP is out now. Good game graphics are not the best but they don't make the game. I would rate it 7.5 out of 10. Much better than some other games I have played(Soldner).
osokdfgr
I cant seem to figure this out... whats the difference between the Gold and GOTY packs...? EDIT: appearently the GOTY (Game of the year edition) has everything i.e Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, and Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis including all the update from the GOLD edition... GOLD has: an updated version of the original Conclution GOTY is the best buy Edited August 13, 2004 by osokdfgr
Matt03
GOTY edition has all the expansion packs (Resistance and Red Dawn) Gold just has the Red Dawn add-on.
