over writing blackhawk sound

hey

yes this has been done before. Works great for mods that dont feature the blackhawk but features some other aircraft.

What you will want to do is locate the stock sounds in the IT folder and you will rename your sound files to match those, so that when your mod is activated, it will simply use your sounds over the normal ones. You will need to make sure your sounds are the same file format as the stock ones and it will probably be best to get your sounds to be the same length also.

thanks for the reply, so far i renamed my sounds the same as the blach hawk ones, hadn't thought of making sure the lenght is the same, will try that. any other advice as what the settings in the effects file should be? shoult i make it identical to the blackhawk effects file?

ok i changed the length of the sound to 5 seconds so it will be almost identical in length to the blackhawk sounds. now other than fractions of a second difference in length the effects files are identical. however the plane sound is too quiet and can't be heard from very far away, how can this be fixed? also there are differences in the file properties comparing the bh vs the plane. The blackhawk is 352kbps, 16 bit, mono, 22khz, pcm, where as my plane sound is 1411kbps, 16 bit, stereo, 44khz, pcm. Should these differences effect the sound in game, if so what needs to be changed and how, thanks.

Do you have any kind of sound editor? You can fix the file type and the sound volume that way. Sound Forge may do it.
