porschefan8 0
I'm making a model of an L96A1, and for the scope, I'm trying to use a cylinder with 5 segments to make the different sized parts of the the scope. In one of the tutorials in the recon section, the author mentions a 'uniform scale option' used to do the same kind of thing I'm trying to do with the scope. However, I can't seem to find where that option is in max 5. Also, does anyone know where I can find high resolution pics or the L96 and the other GR sniper rifles? (side views would be the most helpful)
GRT 0
Uniform scale is up top next to the rotate button. It has a big gray box and alittle white box with red outline. You can click it and hold it down to get other scale options.
porschefan8 0
thanks. . . .I should have known, since it's the exact same button as the one in the edit unwrap UVW window. Here's a render of the model (1668 polys). I've found the boolean tool very helpful, now that I know how to use it. what do you think? GRT 0
Looks good, if you want to give your scope some lens just make the 2 ends alittle shorter then add a tube the same sides at each end with 1-2m length then you can detach the ends of the scopes cylinder and texture them with a scope lens texture. Look HERE see the lens and after the lens theres more scope part Edited July 29, 2004 by RR_GRT

GRT 0
ya like that
SnowFella 8
Yup...just like that. Although I do it in a slightly different way. Instead of creating a new tube I select the front polys of the scope Ngon and first bevel them once, then move the new faces back till they are alligned with the original faces...then I just extrude them back somewhat. And drop me a PM with an email addy and I'll send you some pics of something very similar to the L96. Snow
porschefan8 0
Snow, I sent you a message from under 'my control panel > compose new message', so I hope I did everything right and you'll get it. for the stock on the model, should I leave it as being straight from the grip to the buttpad, or use the other kind of stock it could have, where it goes up from the grip then back down to the buttpad, like it does in this image:
