ok when i open a 3ds file of somthing from any game i always find like 2 to 6 points on one spot, dosent that maje the character look bad when you have different polygins that dont connect? When i connect the character look so much better.

Also, im sure everyone knows this, the hand that holds the barel of the gun is always in the gun, never holding the gun in the right spot, why havent enyone gone in and fixed that?

When you add the helper points to the weapon in Max, the lefthand helper should be positioned roughly where the left wrist would be when holding the weapon.

Involves a little trial and error on the modelers part.

The helper points are placed on the weapon not the chr.

i'm not sure exactly what kind of program lightwave is but from what i have read only 3d studio max versions 3 through 5 can be used to mod GR. this might be why you are having problems. what is throwing me off is what you mean by points. the use of "points" or "helper points" has a specific meaning in 3d modeling, the game engine uses them to place objects at a particular point in space, like where an AT4 would go on a demo experts back. i think you are talking about "vertices". at some junctions two or more vertices are actually on top of each other, although if the characters you are opening are mike schells converted .chr's, none of them have any portion of mesh that is not connected.

try reading through some threads in this forum to get the modding language down, then put some of those key words surrounding your problem in to the search filter and i'm sure you will find an answer to your questions.

On the .3ds characters that you can download the vertices ain't welded together in alot of spots hence the multiple points at the same place. Best way to solve this in 3dsm is to select all vertices (subobject/vertices and just drag a box around the whole character) and use the weld selected feature.

Has 2 advantages: First it fixes some problems with smoothing as you re-apply a smooth modifier to the mesh, without this most characters has clearly visible joint lines at the chest and back of the head. Secondly it makes things so much easier when you export the character, instead of having to weigh multiple vertices in the same way you only have one vertice at every point.

ya thats just what i am having, its such a problem, I got halo models and that where I get the problems. Hey i just got a cool idea, a GR halo mod, hehe, ya right, even thoe it would be easy.

Also i like both opcom and swebat, I was wondering, "what if" you took every Good looking most fav weapons from every popular mod (hx5, Da4.9, opcom, M4, etc) and put them into one mod, now that would be cool. I hate swifting through all the weapons I dont like.
