i take it you mean .chr's with no covers at all. if this is the case i will tell you a few simple steps to remove their covers with out the use of 3ds max, you will however need photoshop.

First, open all 3 .rsb for rifleman, support, and demo (you will do the same thing for each file).

Then, in the window that contains the layers, channels, and paths tabs, select the channels tab.

Now, select the arrow button to the right of the paths tab. doing this will display a new window where you will see the option to create a "new channel". selecting this will then prompt you to confirm the creation of a new alpha channel.

This will now turn the .rsb all black, making sure the alpha channel is still selected, select the entire image with the rectangle marquee tool and fill it white using the "fill" option in the edit menu.

Next, click the alpha channels eye button off and the RGB eye on so you can see the image.

Now, use the rectangular marquee tool and select the part of the .rsb that contains the texture for the boonie hat. now revert back the eye button and make sure the alpha channel is highlighted.

Again you are going to use the fill option but this time you are going to fill the selected area black.

finnaly, save the file exactly as it is named and ensure the alpha channel is preserved.

When you start the game the boonie hats will not be visible, for all intensive purposes, they will be gone.

this is a very comprehensive instruction but i promise it is very easy to do.

good luck

It's a pretty simple way of doing it, just keep in mind that this only works on a very few characters though. Only reason it works on the IT rifleman, demo and support is because whoever modeled the characters acctually put in the top part of the head. Do this on for example the original rifleman from GR and you will end up with a big hole at the top of his head, there's nothing underneath the helmet.

they are just six different boonie attachments. they are independent of the standard .chr models which have there boonies built in to the .chr. out of those six, three are duplications of the rifleman, support, and demo boonies. if you want to veiw them use wolfsongs attachment veiwer.

thank you, so does that mean these extra boonie hats can be used on other characters?

Has anyone made Chr models based on the Island Thunder models (support, Demo, Rifleman) but with the boonie hats removed? Iv'e been looking for this for months now.

Yes, I have. What I did was delete the head/face section of the IT .chr and merge a head from the Origmiss .chrs. You'll have to play around with the vertices to make it fit, but it's not too hard at all. Let me know if you need any more help; I have a few I can send as well, if you'd like. Good luck.
