Constant Crash To Desktop

Recommended Posts

I need help from the GR.net collective;

I repeatedly suffer crash to desktop failures when running various mods and its starting to get a tad annoying;

Right now, I just have the two mission packs and Chems British Infantry mod (with patch1.2) active (with Chems mod the as highest priority) but am suffering CTDs when starting mission 2's briefing: (and I am current with GR v1.4)

A typical log file states that its always an access violation. (see typical log below!)

Can anyone make any sense of this failure and how I could possible stop the CTDs?!?

I would really appreciate any assistance from anyone -

All I want to do is shoot bad guys!!

Thanks,

Alex

Its also a good idea that once your game crashes to perform a checkdisk if your system doesn't do this automatically. Another thing you might try is uninstall and reinstall the mod and see if that fixes it. Also see if you still have the crash with the two official expansions.

The error you posted doesn't tell me anything tho, not my forté - but it might be helpful if you post your system stats as well.

Yes, please post the Ike.log as distinct from the IkeCrash.log.

Also, try running GR with no mods at all, not even Desert Siege and Island Thunder. Then run it with DS and finally with IT.

If it is only crashing with BIM then we need to look at that. Start by deleting the Save directory within the British Infantry Mod directory (GR will create a new one). If it is crashing when you go the briefing screen this may be caused by missing or incorrect briefing images. It may be worth deleting the BIM directory entirely and re-installing it. If the problems persists you may need to download it again. Files do occasionally get corrupted during the download process.

Cheers, Jack :)

Thanks for the respones - the few ideas you've given me sound far more productive than my usual swearing-at-the-computer-until-it-submits-and-starts-working method I've been employing in the last few days.

I'll post the IKE.log tonight when I get home...

Cheers,

Alex

Again, many thanks for your help with this. (I also feel privilaged that someone of Jack57s modding ability hs taken the time to read this post (Jack57 - Thankyou for some seriously good mods!!!))

Right, thats the butt kissing done;

For the record, I do have IT and DS up and running as active mods and GR is patched to v1.4

it is also a fairly fresh installation of the game because I thought that something might get fixed if I tried that...

Here is the IKE file - If I am reading it right, apparently I am missing a few files?! Is this right? and where can I get those files from?!?

The British Infantry mod has a patch which I have already installed (so its version 1.2)

Thanks,

Alex
