porschefan8 0
Are the files on fileplanet scanned for any viruses before they are made available? I'm wondering because if they aren't (which is likely) some destructive modder could put a virus in a mod as the "installer", with obvious bad results. just wondering
magnumkp 0
There was a bit of a hoo har a while back with one of the mod installers deleting another (supposedly illegal) mod and not many people knowing about it. So it would be possible to install some destructive software with a mod installer.
Dan 0
thats a good point KP. i would imagine file planet would scan the mods, but said installler didnt really come under the heading of a virus, scanning it with McAffee etc wouldnt help. It was more of a side effect (but it was put in deliberatly of course!). Its purpose was, while unpacking the mod, to search the computer for any files (in this case mod that were "stolen"), and erase them. Except it went a bit haywire in some cases, deleting peoples home made mods, and mods that werent classed as "stolen". So yeah, most of the "big" mods would be easy to check on, just look at the modding section of this site or others, if there is some kind of virus, it would be mentioned by someone. Littler mods, well, youll just have to trust in the all mighty FilePlanet (oh, and the morality of people)
porschefan8 0
So it'd be best to scan all the downloads before I actually run the installers or extract the files anywhere. Thanks for the info.

I think he said he had Bajabravo look at it also and said same thing.
Dan 0
don said that it only was detected to delete 4.9. I think he said he had Bajabravo look at it also and said same thing. i think a guy named "lexis" (VERY MUCH AN "I THINK") had some major trouble. It deleted the mod he was making himself, aswell as some other mods. I think some other blokes agreed with him. If i get the time ill try to find the thread. It was locked, so u only get an outside in view.
