_OtAcoN_ 0
This started as a joke but a friend said that I should go ahead and make it, this is the texture to a belt fed M4A1. I'll start to make the model tonight or tomorrow. Tell me what you think. Edited July 7, 2004 by _OtAcoN_
OsM_Prodigy 0
its not really a joke. they're actually real. they are called Shrike's i think. SnowFella made some really good one's in his Shrike mod that had both beltfed m4's and m16's. well, they were box-fed much like an m249, but isn't that the same thing? SnowFella 8
As far as I know there are 2 "real" models of beltfed M16/M4 rifles. First one would be the Shrike and the second something called a Ciener conversion. The Shrike doesn't require any alterations to your weapon as it is a drop-in beltfed upper reciever, just remove the old standard reciever and slap on the Shrike and you should be ready to rock and roll. Ares seems to have some production difficulties though and shipments have been delayed for over a year now! Old style Shrike Pics of the new can be found on the site RR_GRT linked to. The models in my Shrike mod are based on the old style, might head back down that road one day and make the new version The Ciener conversion recuires some pretty harsh alterations to the lower reciever to work though and as far as I know it wasn't many ppl that wanted that done to their precious AR's. Pictures of these are very rare but they do look somewhat like the mockup Otacon posted, seen one once upon a time but can't remember exactly where.
MarauderMike 0
Nice model but like was mentioned above, you need to re-model the upper receiver group as the standard upper isn't made to handle link, nor likely is the gas-regulator (which doesn't exist on most standard assault rifles/carbines. There also have been concerns raised about the M4's barrel overheating which is likely why the forestock has been remodeled. Cheers....
